Valued Partner,

First, we are incredibly grateful to our state leadership for supporting the tourism recovery fund, the statewide, industry marketing plan to stimulate economic recovery.

This fund has given our destination the tools we need to drive visitor demand that will fuel recovery for our local communities and industry. Mississippi, the hospitality state, was built on our unmatched hospitality and we look forward to sharing that with the world again.

The impact of COVID-19 on Coastal Mississippi has been indelible, with the tourism economy suffering critically. Tourism is the lifeblood of our region, with the three coastal counties accounting for one-third of the state’s employees, expenditures, and taxes. Both statewide and regional responses to COVID-19 have impeded travel to the region, leaving our coastal economy in desperate need of recovery.

Coastal Mississippi’s tourism recovery plan holds the key to a stronger economic future. After evaluating the impact COVID-19 has had on our region, our plan is based on the following framework and will be executed with the assistance of our partner agencies PETERMAYER, SPARKLOFT, and Fahlgren Mortine:

  • Consumer sentiment and intent to travel
  • The readiness of the destination for tourism
  • Input from partners and stakeholders
  • Industry and competitive analysis
In all that we do moving forward, the Coastal Mississippi Promise of health and safety will be incorporated, reiterating the importance of safe travel practices. Please know that we welcome your feedback and suggestions as we continue to develop our emergence strategy.

We extend a special thanks to our coastal delegation
for your continuous support of our industry!
We sincerely appreciate the commitment and dedication of Richard Chenoweth, who has served on the Coastal Mississippi Board of Commissioners for the last eight years. He was a phenomenal representative from Jackson County and is a true advocate for Coastal Mississippi tourism. On behalf of the many partners, fellow commissioners, and staff members, we thank Richard for his service to the organization.

Additionally, we are excited to share our new board slate, whose leadership began July 2020. Learn more about our board
