Bird Monitoring will be on 18th of August
Due to have to make some necessary changes to the way we organise our activities there will be some changes to Bird Monitoring arrangements.
We will still be holding our walks on the third Wednesday of the month.
There is a slight change to the meeting point. WE WILL BE MEETING AT 4.00pm AT THE BIRD MONITORING SIGN ON THE RAIL TRAIL NEXT TO THE BLACKSPUR CREEK BRIDGE.
This will allow people to walk (ride, run) to the monitoring site at their own pace and also accommodate those who walk in from the Meeniyan direction, rather than the Koonwarra rec reserve as previously organised. It means you have to add the time it takes to get to the bird monitoring site from wherever you begin. A rambling stroll from the rec reserve car park usually takes about 25-30 m
Our next (informal) meeting will be on 7th September - threatened species day
Each year I bake a cake for the Threatened Species bake off, and because I don’t actually eat cake, I share it with the group. This year we thought we would meet at the Ethical Food store in Koonwarra, get coffees and share (my) our masterpiece.
This year the vote is in! I am making a Strzelecki Burrowing Crayfish! You can read all about the crayfish here. Some of my cake efforts have been better than others, however lots of chocolate cake and ganache is mandatory.
Join us for morning tea at 10.30am and bring your appetite. If you can’t make it then we will be streaming live on Facebook - although that doesn’t taste as good.
