Dec. 17, 2020
Occidental Community Church family,
As we approach another Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebration, the words of the prophet Jeremiah seem quite appropriate as he writes in Jeremiah 6:16 - The Lord said to his people: "You are standing at the crossroads. So consider your path. Ask where the old, reliable paths are. Ask where the path is that leads to blessing and follow it. If you do, you will find rest for your souls."
For all of us in 2020 the "old, reliable paths" for celebrating this Christmas season that lead to "rest for your souls" seem far, far away, don't they? Every one of us will be missing out on many of the festivities, family gatherings, and activities that have made our Christmas celebration such a special time of the year in the past. It makes it even more important that we as Christians focus on the real meaning of Christmas - knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and sharing His love in creative ways with all around us. Many of the material aspects of Christmas we will have to do without this year, but the spiritual blessings that God has for us need not be sacrificed. We never know how God will work things out. He may make this the best Christmas we have experienced in a long time. Surprise blessings are His specialty!
At Occidental Community Church we will not be able to offer our traditional Christmas Eve service this year. In order to fill the void a bit, we are putting together a video of past Christmas Eve services for you to enjoy. Here is how you can stay connected to OCC this season:
