Happy Thursday!

On Saturday, we hosted our first-ever missing bits event at the McMillan Memorial Library. We had digitisation stations, an audio storytelling section, film screenings with Docubox, a panel session co-curated with Baraza Media Lab and an exhibition featuring noteworthy items from the archive identified by the digitisation team. Dig into the highlights here. Do you have feedback about the event? Tell us more here.

Next one: Saturday, 21st May 2022 at Eastlands Library

A Music Bunk Showcase

On 14th April, 34 participants from Kaloleni and Eastlands Libraries, as part of music bunk, showcased their learning playing well-known ballads like Daima Mkenya by Eric Wainaina. Music bunk, is our our school holiday music camp teaching music lessons to library users. We are grateful to our tutors led by Levi Wataka, our programming partners, Art of Music and Tropical Heat, who will also be our official snack partners for the year!

Book Bunk Goes Green!

In an effort to build green, sustainable libraries, we are launching Green bunk,  our initiative to reduce our carbon footprint and respond to climate change. Together with Dayliff, we are installing solar panels at the Eastlands Library and Kaloleni Library to manage our energy use at the library. We have also partnered with Takataka Solutions, to manage and recycle waste at the libraries.
