Dear Community Members,
As the first night of Chanukah approaches, I would like to wish you and your families a Happy Chanukah as we celebrate the faith, strength, and perseverance of the Jewish people. Since I last wrote you, the days have grown colder and even though it gets dark earlier we do not need to look too hard to see the light all around us.
Reflecting upon the year, I am constantly reminded of all the ways our community gives back, creating a cycle of renewal. This has been especially evident over the last year, as we have met and overcome the challenges created by the pandemic. Throughout the year, individuals and agencies alike have come together in the spirit of collaboration, always willing to lend a helping hand. This has had a direct and profound impact on the lives of your fellow community members.
I am pleased to share that this generosity has also been seen in donations to the Combined Jewish Appeal. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have received $4,352,661 to date. If you have not already made your donation you can do so here
, and if you have, my sincerest thank you for doing your part for your community. To receive your tax receipt for 2021, your donation must be received on or before December 31.
On Wednesday, December 1 at 4:30 pm, I am looking forward to coming together as a community for our Community-Wide Chanukah Candle Lighting
. Join us and our special guests for the lighting of the chanukiah and festive blessings at the Asper Jewish Community Campus, just outside the main doors – and be sure to dress warmly!
On Wednesday, December 8 at 7 pm we will hold our Annual General Meeting which is being held virtually. Join us as we reflect on a year of dedication, resilience, and community commitment by registering here
I would like to thank our outgoing President, Joel Lazer, for his strong leadership during the challenges our community has faced over the last two years. To Gustavo Zentner, our incoming President, I look forward to working with you and having a year of success full of positive and lasting contributions to our community.
Once again, thank you for your continued support, and I wish all of you a very Happy Chanukah – may it bring warmth into your hearts and homes.
