South Los Altos Neighborhood Association
General Meeting
Thursday, May 12, 6 pm, Daniel Webster Park
Our next General Meeting will be Thursday, May 12 at 6pm at Daniel Webster Park. Please join us!
We will have someone from the City of Albuquerque speak and answer questions about the new Automated Speed Enforcement Program.
Copper Trail Landscaping
Great news! We received word last week from the City that the NoO has been processed as part of the CIP State Grant for the Copper Trail landscaping. Lee Landscaping will be doing the work sometime around the end of July or early August.
Neighborhood Cleanup
SLANA did not participate in the City Solid Waste/Keep Albuquerque Beautiful April cleanups due to lack of volunteers.
However, there are several residents of our neighborhood who pick up trash on a daily or weekly basis year-round as they walk. We thank them for their work in beautifying South Los Altos!!!
Another way to help keep South Los Altos clean is to call 311 if you see weeds, litter, or graffiti. You can remain anonymous and do not need to give your email address, name, or phone number when you call unless you want to.
Neighborhood Recognition Ordinance (NARO)
At the May 18, 2022 City Council meeting, O-22-15 was passed on a 5-4 vote.
Repealing “The Neighborhood Association Recognition Ordinance” Section 14-8-2 And Replacing It With A Revised Neighborhood Association Recognition Ordinance; And Prescribing Responsibilities And Services Offered By The Office Of Neighborhood Coordination; And Making Revisions To The Integrated Development Ordinance Related To Neighborhood Association Notice (Benton)
For more information, you can watch the video of the meeting. The link can be found here: https://cabq.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx
There are many associations and residents who believe this ordinance should not have been passed on the 18th and are asking the Mayor to veto it. If you are familiar with this ordinance and have views pro or con to express to the Mayor or to City Council, please do so.
SLANA Membership
Thank you to our two new members, one Individual and one Business. We appreciate your support! Annual SLANA memberships cost $5 for individuals and $10 for businesses. Any memberships paid now are good through February 2023. To join or renew, go to our website https://slananm.org for payment options, including PayPal.
Please consider joining so that we can continue with our postcard mailing next year. It is not a guarantee that we will be able to get a sponsorship or donations next year and it would mean a lot if we had neighborhood support to continue our efforts to keep everyone informed.
What is your vision for SLANA?
We'd like to hear from you - what would you like from SLANA and what are you willing to volunteer? Send an email to contact@slananm.org or join us at the May 12 General Meeting and share your ideas and concerns.
Welcome new newsletter subscribers!
We are excited that our opt-in email newsletter continues to grow. Welcome new subscribers! Do you know any neighbors who you think would like to be in the loop for our neighborhood? Tell them to go to our webpage to sign up: https://slananm.org
We are also pleased that the number of followers to our FACEBOOK page continues to grow. Check it out if you haven't already.
Thank you for your interest in our neighborhood!
