In a long, dramatic week of hearings over the Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court, no moment stuck out quite like when New Jersey Senator Cory Booker announced he’d be sharing confidential information in an attempt to shed more light on Kavanaugh’s time with the Bush Administration. It’s absolutely mind-blowing how the confirmation process for a SUPREME COURT JUSTICE has come to this - with one party being completely obstructionist and abandoning Senate norms. That means Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee are left to take extreme measures (as Booker did) and grasp at every possible avenue to sink this nomination. Let’s hope some of these tactics pay off because if not, the consequences would be devastating and far-reaching (we shouldn’t have to tell you why, but if you need a reminder). (TIME)

Recent studies have shown that the average American's view on life/overall happiness has taken a nose dive. In comes Laurie Santos, a professor at Yale University. She developed a course titled “Psychology and the Good Life” - the most popular in Yale's history to date. Her students are claiming it works. The author of this article took the course so we didn't have to. Read on for the cliff notes. (THE CUT)

Jameela Jamil, star of The Good Place, recently went on-record calling the Kardashian empire “toxic and damaging” for selling “self-consciousness” and “recycling hatred.” Jamil manages to pinpoint a problem we’ve had with the Kardashian industrial complex for years, but haven’t quite been able to articulate. While we commend the sisters and matriarch for their PR and business savvy, we always wonder what lasting effects these highly publicized, impossible beauty standards are having on young girls. Though some people have taken issue with Jamil’s remarks due to the Twitter shade she’s thrown in the past (see this Nylon article), that doesn’t mean she’s wrong or that it’s not worth discussing. (People)

Summer nights are shortening, the weather is still balmy but a chill is upon us. It is the perfect time of year to pick the last tomatoes and basil from in the garden. No garden, no problem, run to the farmer's market for heirlooms as this is the best time of year for them. We picked this week's recipe because it is easy, light, simple, and does not take a lot of time to prepare.  Plus, this recipe is one of Bon Appetit's BA Best, meaning it is part of their essential collection of recipes.

Last week we kicked off our Entrepreneurial Women series by featuring the fabulous Cherise Rivera of She Weaves. Keep an eye on this space for more in-depth interviews with inspiring, passionate, ambitious women as we continue the series. In addition, this space in the newsletter will be dedicated to the general message of female empowerment. Let us know if there’s any specific content or inspo you’d like to see in upcoming issues

And to that end, can we take a moment to appreciate the sheer brilliance of Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) during the Kavanaugh hearings? We would not want to find ourselves on the wrong side of an interrogation from her because damn, she is just bringing it. We’re so freaking thankful for legislators like her that are willing to take a stand and ask the tough questions so this video is a must watch.

I'm living for this Free People Simply Perfect Blazer. I love how casual it is, but when paired with a classic white tank or tee it transforms an outfit. Also it is the perfect "transition to fall" wardrobe piece.  - Bex
After rocking these during a 20-hour travel day, I’ve decided these Spanx Camo Faux Leather Leggings are more than worth the money. Soft, flattering, and seriously comfortable; I’ll basically be living in these until spring. Sizing tip: go up one if you’re between sizes! - Mila
Because sometimes you just need a female power anthem.
This understated Hampton's cottage is everything. Obsessed with the whole mid-century vibe these days.
