On January 1st, 2019 Pope Francis will mark the annual World Day of Peace with a message titled: “Good Politics is at the Service of Peace.” Pope Francis compels everyone to be engaged in the work of advocating for and with those whose voices are marginalized, to ensure the protection and fulfillment of the ‘youngest and smallest.’ - USCCB

Happy New Year!
Today is the Feast of the Solemnity of Mary, and a Holy Day of Obligation. It is a beautiful reminder of the humanity of Christ and the role that Mary played in his life, raising him in this human life. Learn more about this special day at Busted Halo.

I hope that everyone had a peaceful week with their families. This last week, Mrs. Hess lost her mother. It was a hard week for her immediate and extended family, especially her three children who were very close to her. Please keep Kris and her family in your prayers as it is always hard to move on after a loved one passes away.

Important Registration Information 19-20
We will ease into the month of January during this short week. This month is typically our kick off to registering for the next school year. Current families should plan to register during Catholic Schools Week (Jan. 27-Feb.2nd) as registration will be $50 p/family and it is the ony way to guarantee enrollment for the 19-20 school year. 5th and 7th grades will be particularly full in 19-20 so early registration for current families is imperative. We will send lots of reminders as we get close to the opening of registration.

Donation - Service Project Announcement
I wanted to share that we had nearly a $15,000 annonymous donation made to our school community in December. This donation was made with the intention of school and parish working together to implement a service-oriented ministry. This ministry will better enable our community to make a difference to families (parish and non-parish) needing help in our school neighborhood. The details of how this will be organized are still coming together but we are very excited to be involved with a project that will provide ongoing service-learning opportunities for our students and parishioners.

MORNING DROP OFF ANNOUNCEMENT

DO NOT DROP  YOUR CHILD OFF IN ANY PART OF THE LOT OTHER THAN THE DROP OFF LINE UNLESS YOU ARE PARKING AND WALKING THEM INTO THE BUILDING.

We have had two very scary incidents in the last few weeks with small children being dropped off in the back of the large parking lot. In both cases, students were left to wander through parked and moving cars unescorted.  This is NOT part of our morning drop off plan. Please remind eachother (politely) of the morning routine so that we can all get our children into the building safely. We will put extra staff out in the back part of the lot to help remind everyone about the safety routines.
