School update for the week of Sept. 9th, 2018

Greetings St. Bernard School Families,

We have officially completed six days of the new school year!

There are a lot of things happening already, so I will do my best to give you updates on all of our school happenings.
T-shirt Tuesday Shirts Now Available for Online Ordering!
We now have an online store for families to purchase our T-shirt Tuesday shirts along with our most popular shirt designs. This year's t-shirt quote was selected by our 2019 8th grade graduating class. The honeycomb theme on the design is particular meaningful as St. Bernard is the patron saint of Bee Keepers and Candle Makers. Store Link Here  The Deadline for Ordering is Sept. 21st!
Security System Switch-over
By the end of this month we will have our new camera system along with door locks and corresponding software all in place. You will be notified if/when this switch-over will impact those of you with Before/After Care Keys.
Diesiseis de Septiembre Event Canceled
We have had enough personnel changes this year to make this event a challenge to pull together. We will be looking to Christmas and the spring months for other opportunities to celebrate our growing Hispanic population. Thank you for your understanding and I do know this will be disappointing for some of our families.
SCRIP Forms and Updates
There are quite a few SCRIP forms and announcements this week. For this reason, I will send a separate message to the community addressing only SCRIP. Our new SCRIP coordinator is Mrs. Tabitha Wallenfang.
First Mass of the School Year
It is always a challenge to get our first Mass of the year to run smoothly! New teachers, new students and new choir members are just a few of the variables that make the first Mass of the school year exciting! Take a look at our Facebook and Instagram feeds for pictures of our teachers getting a special blessing from Fr. Mark.

GRACE Appeal Weekend Sept. 15/16
I am looking for some parents/students to help read the GRACE Appeal scrip at the end of the weekend masses next week. If you are interested in reading the script with your child, would you let me know and I will pass your name on to Fr. Mark and then get you the materials and information? Thank you for your consideration!
Athletic Entrance Reminder
If you are coming to one of our evening athletic events, please remember that the back entrance to the gym is where you can enter. If it is locked when you arrive, simply ring the doorbell. Please feel free to pass this information on to family and friends as well! Additionally, our Soccer and Volleyball teams would love to see you in the stands or on the field this season! We have some fantastic student athletes and our teams are really fun to watch! Go SBS Bears!

Have a wonderful week and may you find Christ in the little things.

Sincerely in Christ,
Crystal Blahnik
