Greetings St. Bernard School Families,
We are already at the end of September which is just a crazy thought. The months of August and September always go so fast! I want to share that one reason I am supportive when families take vacation during the school year is because I understand that family time in our society is so precious and limited, and that sometimes, we need to take advantage of opportunities to travel and spend time with family even at the expense of a few days of missed class time. This last week my family and I were in California for my youngest brother's wedding. I have not traveled back to my home in San Louis Opispo, CA for over four years now, and doing so was so renewing for my spirit. Thank you to everyone on the staff and in the parent community for your understanding with this time off. I was equally happy to return to the children in our school and look forward to a fruitful school year. While I do miss my home in California, we are very much at home here in Green Bay now and it is a good feeling!

T-shirt Tuesday Shirts - Update
Shirts that were ordered usually take a few weeks to produce and deliver. If you have questions about your order, please feel free to touch bases in the office.
Security System Switch-over
We are getting there. You will see a security camera now installed outside of the main school doors and additional cameras are still being installed and connected. The installation is going well but it is not yet completed.
Request for Meeting of Families who Speak Spanish
Ms. Isabel Cabrera, parent to one of our intermediate level students, and I, will be hosting a meeting for our Spanish Speaking parents on Monday, October 15th at 6:30 pm in the school building. We are requesting one representative from each family. We are meeting to get input on events such as Dia de Los Muertos, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and to discuss planning a Posada for our families in December.

Blessing of the Pets - Thursday, October 4th - Humane Society Collection
To celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Asisi, the Student Council will be hosting a "Blessing of the Pets" in the small, upper parking lot in front of the school, this Thursday, October 4th at drop off. Students will gather with their parents, classmates and pets to receive a quick blessing from Fr. Mark much like we did with the Blessing of the Backpacks. Teachers will then line up with their students (sans the pets unless they are stuffed) and head into the building. Please support our Girl Scouts at SBS, and consider a donation to the Humane Society!
Donations can be brought in all week and placed in the box in front of the school office. Informational flyer here.
