Weekly Principal Update
Week of March 22nd, 2020

March 22nd, 2020

Dear Families,

Congratulations! You survived three days at home with your children - balancing your own work, their school work and the myriad of daily tasks in-between.  Phew! We are headed into the first full week of our "Continuous Learning" plan. Our hope is that you are able to slowly acclimate to this new platform with us. We are working hard to find ways of providing you with resources and materials that work for you and your family.

The purpose of my newsletter this week is to provide all of you with a place to locate the resources you may need while your students are at home.

Additionally, early this week, the classroom teachers will be sending out a survey via Google Form Link to capture how things are working for you. Please fill the form out for each teacher as it comes to you. We are specifically interested in how the communication, workload, and timing of communication is working for you in that specific classroom. This information will help us make informed decisions as we move forward.

Finally, I want to thank all of you who have been so encouraging and positive with us as staff. We are all very touched by your support. Your positivity means the world to all of us right now!

We are all working from home so if you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of our teachers and staff.  Check our website for staff contact informationHERE.

My personal hope is that amid the new challenges you are able to find the silver lining and take advantage of this time to make new family memories.

A Message from Fr. Mark to our School Community!
With sadness, our live activities for our school community have been canceled for this month.

However, we will be engaging you and your family in a plethora of virtual activities to keep us connected as a school community. These will be on Instagram and Facebook. You can link to our Social Media streams at the bottom of this newsletter.

Join us at 8:45 am for our morning announcements each day at our Facebook Feed (no need for a FB account if you are just watching).

While many businesses are closed, some still continue to provide free wifi on their premises.
That means you can access it from the parking lot!
The following businesses have free wifi:
Lox Stock and Bagel
The Attic
Luna Cafe
Some public schools and libraries also have free guest wifi that you can access when you are in their parking lots as well.

Additionally, did you know that depending on your mobile phone/device, you may be able to use it as a hotspot for wifi? That means you may be able to access the internet on a family Chromebook by using your cellphone as a source of Wifi. You will just need to be sure to get onto the internet quickly, download your messages and assignments and then log off to limit your data use.

Here are the directions for using your mobile phone as a hotspot.
Families, if you need to print something that is school-related, we have opened an account at DigiCopy for our school families.

Here's what to do:
Email your document and the number of copies you require via PDF to  be sure to write "St. Bernard Catholic School" in your Subject or Message. This way the school will be charged, not you.
