Weekly Principal Update
Week of February 9th, 2020

February 9th, 2020

There are dozens of African saints, but one of these 6 is likely to be the first canonized African American. February is Black History Month. Read more about these six likely saints here.

Dear Families,
We have all been struggling with various viruses this winter. Thank you so much for keeping your children home if they are sick. There is no need to hurry back to school. The teachers are all suffering from these same viruses and I am doing my best to encourage them to stay home as well. Please remember that children and adults should be FEVER FREE without medication for 24 hours before returning. Thank you for helping reduce the spread of these viral illnesses.

This Thursday is our SAC meeting. Ann Selk, the coordinator for the SCRIP program will be presenting the breakdown of where the profits go. She also created a very nice handout to go along with this information. She is available to present for 15 minutes. Following her presentation, Larry Schneider, Julie Wergin and I will be available for a few minutes of Q and A.

ENROLLMENT 2020-2021:
Thank you to everyone who enrolled early and took advantage of the $50 reduced enrollment fee. Classes that are filling up fast include PK3 and PK4, Kindergarten, 5th, 6th and 8th grades.

In Christ,

Mrs. Crystal Blahnik

KWIKTRIP BONUS IN FEBRUARY- KwikTrip is doubling their rebate to 10% for the month of February.  This is a great opportunity to get more bang for your buck.  If you are ordering online please be sure to select “KwikTrip Local’ to receive the full 10% bonus.

REMEMBER SCRIP WHEN MAKING VACATION PLANS- ShopwithScrip offers over 700 vendors including airlines (American, Delta, Southwest), most major hotel chains, Airbnb and Uber (escrip), Budget car rental and many restaurants.  Go to www.shopwithscrip.com at the bottom of the page click on Retailer List by Category and look under “Travel”, “Dining” and “Entertainment”.  There is a spot on our scrip order form (bottom of special order side) to write in vendors not shown on our regular scrip form,

You will find an order form on the school website under “Fundraising; Scrip” http://www.stbernardgb.org/uploads/2/9/4/0/29407621/scrip_order_form_november_2019.pdf

SCRIP SELLER TRAINING- A short training session will be held at 5:30, Thursday February 13 prior to the SAC meeting in the school library. If you cannot make that time please contact Ann Selk at scrip@stbernardcong.org to set up a short training at your convenience either at one of the Masses or at another time.

The scrip program benefits the school and school families in so many ways. Without volunteers, the scrip fundraiser would not be possible. Selling scrip at weekend masses or during the week at the parish office is a convenient, flexible way to give back. You determine when you want to sell, how often you want to sell and where you want to sell.  The commitment is only about an hour of your time per selling session and you can wrap it around your Mass attendance.  Committing to sell even once per month or every two months makes a big impact.

DO YOU NEED HELP?

Do you have questions or would you like personal help in setting up an online account or learning how to use your online account?  Would you like to learn about student delivery?  Stop by the parish office between 8:00 and 9:00 on most Monday mornings and Ann Selk, the scrip coordinator will help you.  You can also contact Ann Selk at scrip@stbernardcong.org and set up an appointment to get together.

Wisconsin law established a tax deduction for private school tuition, and again, tuition tax credit information is available for the 2019 calendar year online via TADS.

The TADS Household Paid Tuition Tax Report provides a breakdown of payments made for the specified household’s tuition account during the tax year.

When you are gathering your information for 2019 tax preparation, go online to your TADS account and select Billing | Billing Account Number | Reports | Household Paid Tuition Tax Report | enter the year 2019 and submit. If you have questions or require assistance, please call TADS Parent Support at 800-477-8237.
