What's Happening with AASYP?

We were so excited to meet so many of you at our AASYP Perth Launch and to hear from DFAT's Kate O'Shaughnessy and UWA's Ella Prihatini about the significance of ASEAN-Australia relations and the emerging trends of the region.

DFAT has launched their iSAY Essay Competition aimed at promoting understanding of the many ways that trade has benefitted Australia and the world. 

There are three categories:
  1. Australian High School Students
  2. Australian University Students
  3. ASEAN University Students
Winners will have the opportunity to be published in DFAT's flagship online and print magazine, business envoy, with their winning entry published in a future edition.

ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth is pleased to announce the 2019 ASEAN Youth Social Journalism Contest. The competition focuses on the importance of reliable and transparent government in ASEAN and its Member States.

ASEAN youth are encouraged to submit an essay describing a theme exploring "the importance of responsive and transparent government in their day-to-day lives, promoting the ideals of fairness, equity, and transparency in their communities and at the ASEAN regional level"

Winners will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop to develop and implement social awareness activity in their respective countries as well as other prizes.

This contest is supported by the ASEAN Foundation and the ASEAN USAID PROSPECT.

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is currently seeking a final year student or recent graduate for internships based at the Embassy of Australia in Hanoi.

The internship will involve the following duties:
  • General administrative and logistics support for the office, functions and events
  • Assist officers in conducting basic research and preparing reports on related issues
  • Assist with arranging appointments and official visits as required
  • Perform translations and interpretations as necessary

Asia Pacific Millennial Leaders Summit 2019 is open for applications!

Asia Pacific Millennial Leaders Summit provides assistance to young people and strives to create opportunities for those with sincere and honest aspirations and intentions.

The summit is fully funded for successful applicants and includes an international certificate, accomodation, intercultural preparation and the conference.

The ASEAN Youth Exchange Program 2019 is accepting applications to be held in Bangkok from 28 July - 4 August 2019. The theme of the conference this year is 'Is ASEAN Really Sustainable in a Changing Global Future?'

The ASEAN Youth Exchange Program is fully funded and aims to act as a platform for dialogue between ASEAN Member States and enhance understanding of the role of ASEAN in advancing partnership sustainability under the changing world.
