President’s Message
What a difference a year makes. What a difference the "COVID Year" makes. One year ago, you could not have convinced me that meaningful connection and learning could occur in my slippers over my laptop. Wasn't the hallmark of SPIM conferences the collegiality and intimacy of our in-person meetings? I wondered, if we can forego in-person gatherings, what sets SPIM apart from other professional organizations? I now realize that the hardships and deprivations of this past year are bearable because the sacrifice will be worthwhile when we can be together again. I hope the distance imposed by COVID will pay dividends when we can appreciate each other’s company, intellect, and mutual support in person. This year, I learned that virtual meetings are as good as the enthusiasm and curiosity that we bring to them. Until we can be together again, please continue your commitment to SPIM by joining us for the 2021 Conference, and invite a friend or colleague to join us!
