SCYYRA CFJ Shadden Series @ SDYC - Jan 14th

MBYC had 4 sailors at the one-day Shadden Series at SDYC. With heavy rain all day being the most remarkable factor, sailors needed to have the right gear for the stormy conditions. Big congratulations to the team of Alex K and Lucas S on their 11th place finish in the 35 boat fleet, an impressive feet for this newer team.

ABYC Sabot Invitational/SCYYRA North Series

MBYC sent 8 sailors to Long Beach for the ABYC Sabot Invitational, Jan 21-22. The team had a successful weekend with fluctuating breeze and strong currents being the challenges. We had 3 sailors in A, with Braden placing highest at 11th in the competitive 22 boat fleet. Sailing his fresh boat, Santi won B division earning the promotion to A fleet with teammates Jett and Luke placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Santi, Jett and Luke alternated winning 8 of the 9 races in their division! Our lone C1, Evan, had a great weekend too, winning the last of the 9 races to take 3rd overall in that 14 boat fleet!

SCYYRA C420 Perry Series @ USSC-Long Beach

MBYC had 10 sailors among the 42 boats at the Perry Series #3 in Long Beach this past weekend. The West Coast fleet has many of the best C420 sailors in the country, so this series is as competitive as it gets in Youth Sailing. Our sailors, with an average age of 14, are some of the youngest in the fleet, so setting short and long term goals that are reasonable yet challenging is incredibly important. Our sailors continue to show progress, resilience and determination as they navigate these larger, ambitious regattas.
