Among many other fleets racing at the MBYC MidWinters, the two largest were the O'Pen Skiffs with 32 boats and the Lasers Radials with 27 boats. Team MBYC had Juniors Sailors in O'Pen Skiffs (14), Lasers (10 Radial, 2 Full) and Snipes (2)!
On the Ocean Course, we had four MBYC Radial Sailors finish in the top 10: Oakley 3rd, Allie 5th, Ben 7th and Efe 8th. Also, Patrick B placed 3rd overall in Full Rigs. We are so proud of our whole Laser Race Team
as the step to racing two full days in the ocean is no small feat in itself and for several of the kids, this was a first. With just one more event in the SDAYC Laser Winter Circuit
to go, Ben, Allie, Oakley and Efe all sit in the top 10 in the overall series standings
and we look forward to seeing how everyone ends up after the final day of racing in Coronado on March 7th! RESULTS
Team MBYC would like to send the most heartfelt wishes for a quick recovery to our CYC friend, Mercy, after she suffered a knee injury from an accident on the Ocean Course Sunday. Please keep her in your thoughts. Get Well Soon Mercy!!
Inside Mission Bay, our O'Pen Skiff
and Snipe Sailors
for the most part saw more breeze than the Ocean course over the full weekend and with 4 races on Saturday, and only had two slated for Sunday. With a wild wind direction that most thought would not hold, the breeze just built and held relatively steady to get races going after an hour or so of postponement. And off the fleets went on a marathon Course 3 which included 4 upwind legs! The afternoon turned into a wonderfully warm, breezy day on the water. Congrats to Sarah winning in Snipes with legend Bob Bowden and cheers for our top 10 finishers in O'Pen Skiffs: Owen 1st, Santi 2nd, Liam 6th and Loki 8th
. This event also concluded the SDAYC O'Pen Skiff Winter Circuit with MBYC's Owen winning the overall series!
Also finishing top 10 in the overall series were Liam 5th, Luke 6th, Loki 7th and Santi 8th! GO TEAM MBYC!! RESULTS
