June Stated Meeting of Presbytery
To the Presbytery:
There is a lot of different information for this meeting, so please read it all carefully.
The Presbytery of Lake Huron will hold its stated meeting on Tuesday, June 7 2022, starting at 9:30 AM. This will be an in-person meeting with the ability to also participate by Zoom. Alma College and its chaplaincy staff are our hosts and we will be meeting in the newly renovated Alma College Chapel. Regardless, registration by all commissioners and/or guests ahead of the meeting is required. To register, click this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIucOGtqzgoHNdXYTzfhyzxfRSfbxn2OUOW
For those attending in-person, you may park in lot #'s 13 and 14 and along Superior St and Harvard Avenue. Please see the map for details.
Lunch will be served at this meeting. There will be three different box lunches from which to choose. There will be seating both inside and outside (weather co-operating!). There will be no cost for this meeting’s lunch as a way to celebrate being back together.
Our worship time will be led by the chaplains of Alma College and, hopefully, some of the students. We will be sharing in Communion during the worship service.
During the equipping time, we will hear from Sheriff Chris Swanson of Genesee County. Sheriff Swanson made the news for his approach to demonstrations for racial justice and equality. As we seek to be a Matthew 25 Presbytery, his will be a challenging voice that may not be easy for everyone to hear or be one that all will agree with.
For the business portion of the meeting, we will be commissioning our General Assembly Commissioners as they get ready for GA later in June. We will also receive the year-end financial reports for 2021. Perhaps most importantly, we will take time around our tables to hear from each other any ideas and thoughts on the future of the Presbytery; what might be useful structure; what churches need most from the Presbytery. To provide the most time for discussion, we will ask other reports to be as brief as possible.
We realize that some feel the Presbytery doesn’t always listen to their thoughts and concerns. This is one way that we are trying to hear all voices and ideas as the Presbytery prepares for its next steps. Everyone’s participation truly does matter.
For Zoom only commissioners: Please note that all aspects of the Presbytery meeting will take more time and that can be hard to do on Zoom. Please take a break any time you need to. For the table discussions, we will put Zoom commissioners in a room together.
Please call or email Staci Percy (firstname.lastname@example.org) at the Presbytery office to request an excused absence. Excused absences are automatically granted to all honorably retired ministers and to any member of presbytery who calls or emails a request.
All of the documents related to this meeting may be found on the Presbytery Meetings page of our website.

In lieu of a scheduled clean up day, the session has posted a list of things that need to be done around the church so you can volunteer when your schedule allows. If you need a key to access the building outside of office hours let Laurie or Glenn know. When you complete something on the list, please sign your name on the sheet that is posted on the Sign Up board in the hallway. We greatly appreciate those who are able to volunteer to keep the church looking nice!
We will be collecting the Pentecost Offering this Sunday
