An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

Prayer to Saint Valentine

Dear Lord, who art high in the Heavens,
Giver of Love and Passion,
And He who strings the heart's cords,
Lead the Lovers this day, February ten plus four.
The day during the month of two,
When the date is the perfect number of God
Greater two souls and two hearts.
Some Loves are fleeting,
But that which is built on you will never fail.
So guide the Lovers to know what is to be.
Your truths the Lovers' mouths should speak,
For Your truth is that which is honest to the heart.
Only this, then, should pass over the red lips of the Lovers.
Your art, the Lovers simply a medium.
It is only with True Hearts that You can create a Masterpiece,
So let the Lovers remember that their Soul's Desire
Is the one for which You light their Fire.
And let it be You who creates the Art of the Lovers;
The art of two into one.

Amen.

Together for Peace
During Lent, Development, and Peace – Caritas Canada invites you to take part in their new Share Lent campaign:  Together for Peace.  This campaign calls on us to reflect on the profound meaning of peace by discovering the importance of dialogue as a means for reconciliation and for the construction of peace.  Together, let us continue to believe that peace, human dignity, and justice can triumph.
Peacemaking calls for courage, much more so than warfare.  It calls for the courage to say yes to encounter and no to conflict; yes to dialogue and no to violence; yes to negotiations and no to hostilities; yes to respect for agreements and no to acts of provocation; yes to sincerity and no to duplicity.  All of this takes courage, it takes strength and tenacity.  (Pope Francis, June 8/14)
Suggestion:  consider putting aside at least one dollar a day to help Development and Peace. May the long-standing support of our parish and its concern for the poor continue to grow stronger in our community.  Scripture reminds us that our good deeds go with us into eternity.
OIL AND SALT

Canadian Food
for Children
This year we are collecting oil and iodized salt.  Oil is an essential item for hundreds of millions of poor people around the world. It is too expensive, however, for the poorest families to buy.   A deficiency in salt can lead to death from heatstroke or an enlarged thyroid gland which decreases energy and strength.  As well, pregnant mothers lacking iodized salt in their diets put their babies at risk of mental disability.  Please bring your items to the church in a reusable cloth bag.  Your donations can be given to the users before Mass up to and including Palm Sunday (March 28).
