An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

We continue to pray for students preparing to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Eucharist. We pray that the gift of faith will grow in these students and in their families during this special time of preparation.

May God bless you and your family.

Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us.

NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF LOURDES

Prayer
Be blessed, O most pure Virgin, for having vouchsafed to manifest your shining with life, sweetness and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes, saying to the child, St. Bernadette: 'I am the Immaculate Conception. ' A thousand times we congratulate you upon your Immaculate Conception. And now, O ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of mercy, Health of the sick, Refuge of sinners, Comforter of the afflicted, you know our wants, our troubles, our sufferings deign to cast upon us a look of mercy.

By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes, you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary, whence you dispense your favors, and already many have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and physical. We come, therefore, with the most unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain for us, O loving Mother, the granting of our request.

(state your request)

Through gratitude for your favors, we will endeavor to imitate your virtues, that we may one day share your glory.
Our Lady of Lourdes, Mother of Christ, you had influence with your divine son while upon earth. You have the same influence now in Heaven. Pray for us; obtain for us from your Divine Son our special requests if it be the Divine Will. Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

Saint Bernadette, pray for us.

Nominations are now open for Waterloo’s 2021 Senior of the Year award!

You know them: caring, involved seniors who have spent their year going out of their way to help others. They have given their time and energy to make a difference in our community, in spite of the challenges we’re all going through. And now we want to know them too!

Residents are encouraged to take a few moments to tell us about a special resident over the age of 65 who has made a significant contribution to the community as a volunteer.

Seniors who qualify for this award may have contributed to many different fields such as the arts, literature, community service, volunteering, education, environment, fitness and humanitarian activities. We look forward to recognizing our Senior of the Year during Senior’s Month in June.

BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS

February 2021

PARENTING TIP OF THE MONTH - Parenting Tip 127: Two kinds of love are on display in the month of February this year – one on Valentine’s Day celebrating romantic love and one on Feb. 17th, Ash Wednesday, celebrating the infinite love of a merciful God. When we recognize the depth of God’s love, so powerful that nothing can separate us from it, we feel secure that God is always with us. Both these loves are important and this is a great month to help children understand that God is responsible for both. Talk to them about how He created us to want to be in relationships, care about others and love important people in our lives. Help them to understand that the six weeks of Lent ends with the celebration Easter. Easter, the day we rejoice over Christ’s resurrection and through his love, our ability to spend eternity in Heaven.

MARRIAGE TIP OF THE MONTH - Marriage Tip 107: In February we celebrate Valentine’s Day, a day created to celebrate love and a great month to think back to the days of dating we experienced with our spouses! Days when we flirted, complimented, spent endless hours talking, hated to be apart and planned and went on dates! Now compare it to your time together today – have you given up all or most of these actions? Marriages that continue to have relationships that reflect their dating days feel connected, vitalized, and loved. Why not consider making February a month of renewal for your marriage? Purposely create a relationship with your spouse where you give them your time and attention by making them your number one priority and ignite that same spark of love you felt in those early days of dating.

Anniversary Mass 2021 Registration - The Anniversary Mass scheduled for June of 2021 has been cancelled due to restrictions and concerns around COVID-19. We invite you to register your 25, 40, 50, 60, and 60 plus years of marriage on the Diocesan website at www.hamiltondiocese.com. The Anniversary Mass is listed on the home page - click on the icon and you can register your anniversary. We will send you the certificate you would have received from Bishop Crosby at the Mass.

Marriage Enrichment - Looking for a wonderful opportunity to spend time together as a couple, in the safety of your own home? Join the Virtual/Online Worldwide Marriage Encounter experience from March 5-7. During these stressful times, give your marriage a booster shot! Restore your loving communication with your spouse and rekindle the romance. The Marriage Encounter experience is a skill-building enrichment program where together, you, as husband and wife, learn how to be the best couple you can be. No group discussion. Based on Catholic values but open to couples of all faiths. Rediscover the love in your relationship! Contact: Marge & Gerard McCauley at gerard.marge@rogers.com or (905) 792-1925 or visit the website at www.me.org

Ash Wednesday, February 17th, begins the Holy Season of Lent. The Diocesan Office for Evangelization and Catechesis and the Diocesan Office for Liturgy are preparing an Ash Wednesday program that can be celebrated at home – with the Gospel proclamation and a brief reflection by His Excellency, Bishop Douglas Crosby. Parents may bless their children by tracing the Sign of the Cross on their foreheads, marking the beginning of the annual Lenten journey.  For more information and additional resources for celebrating Lent in pandemic times, please see our Diocesan website: www.hamiltondiocese.com/lent2021.
Living Rosary for February 2021

Our Lady of Lourdes Small Faith Group invites you to join its members in praying the living rosary for the needs of the parish and the community.  For February 2021, we pray
 (1) for people with mental health challenges. We pray that God may provide them with the necessary support, help them to stay patient and positive as they wait for treatments and therapies.

In addition, we will keep in our prayers
(2) the Pope’s monthly intention-
Violence against women: We pray for women who are victims of violence, that they may be protected by society and have their sufferings considered and heeded.

(3) the sick and their caregivers, and
(4) the living and deceased members of our parish.

By volunteering, you will be responsible to say one decade of the mystery of the Rosary every day for the coming month.  If you are interested, please sign-up here.

Our ladies have been busy during Covid and are thrilled to be helping different organizations as well as our church patrons. Here are some of the other areas for which they have knitting and crocheting.

St Mary’s Hospital Spiritual Care Centre
Below are a few notes of appreciation from people who have received our shawls:
A palliative patient grieving and praying for healing told everyone who called her how comforted she was by the brown and pink knit shawl she had received, according to her daughter at bedside.
A staff member back from a month-long stress leave due to Covid-19 was thrilled to receive a coral crocheted shawl.
Canadian Food for Children
They are making pneumonia vests to keep small children and infants warm.
The Cambridge Poppy Project
10,000 poppies are being crocheted by many people and groups and will be applied to large nets or yard goods and displayed to honour our Veterans this Fall.
If you are in need of a shawl filled with prayers for your loved one (adult or infant) please call Peggy Dietrich at 519-725-5847 or Marg Perrotta at 519-886-8258.
