STOP RACISM
Black Lives Matter, globally & locally. Local organizers held Black Lives Matter protest in Terrace on Sunday, with speakers from all backgrounds. Tell us what is your experience with racism and help us figure out what we can do.

Take a moment to fill out our online ANONYMOUS SURVEY. Help us better understand what racism looks like in Terrace and area.
We are putting together a working group, email us if you would like to join.
We have created a page with resources for different ages: www.skeenadiversity.com/stop_racism.
Please share with us what you find useful. Thank you! We stand together.
ANTI-RACISM (NOT JUST) FOR KIDS 101: STARTING TO TALK ABOUT RACE
We live in very challenging, but ultimately, exciting times. The established institutional racism is being challenged and many injustices and inequalities are becoming apparent due to the global virus pandemic and racial injustice and violence on display.
What can we do as individuals? We take the approach of seeing each person as a member of our human family, respecting each other and getting to know their story, their talents, journeys, struggles while celebrating successes. We share our own story, we reflect on our own prejudices, we listen and we learn. We stand up and become allies. We value diversity and unity of humanity.
We strive to live up to our vision: Skeena Diversity Society believes in the strenghts and creativity of a diverse, inclusive and racism-free community.

The article provides a list of books and topics for discussion:
Anti-Racism for Beginners: Part 1 Acknowledging & Celebrating Racial Diversity
  • We must talk about race with young kids. Racism thrives in silence
  • Your child needs at least one adult to speak truth about racial assumptions
  • We can help our children understand racism – and empower them to work toward racial equality
  • Start by telling our kids that yes – we do see skin color and racial identities
