Our update this month looks very different than we had hoped it would... Where we had thought of sharing the excitement and anticipation of what God would do at Half Step Camp  in just a couple of weeks, we are instead sharing about how God had a different idea.

Camp Is Canceled

We discovered a couple of weeks ago that the organization that we are under does not have the liability insurance to cover us to work directly with youth.  It has worked in the past because we were under the banner of Faith Church, but now that we are expanding outside of one local body…it makes things a bit complicated.

Brayden and I explored every possible option that could allow us to work around the liability issues with integrity, but we found those doors to be closed. This was extremely disappointing and hard for me to deal with at first, but I realized it may have been hard because I was holding on too tightly.

There's a lot of complicated logistics and emotions in this process, but the remaining truth is this:

God was and is perfectly capable of moving mountains.

So I have found peace knowing that if the mountains didn't move when we prayed and asked God to move them, then it was not God's will.

For those of you who advised us, offered your help, were on the camp team,  prayed for solutions, and reached out after the decision was made:
Your support and encouragement is so cherished!

What Now?

There were two parts to this newfound dilemma:
The first, was camp.
The second is that we cannot receive your support through FLI
(our umbrella organization) to work with minors. That kind of puts a big wrench in nearly everything we do doesn't it?

To not put FLI in a compromising situation, we are respecting this. It means that our time underneath them must come to an end if we are to continue on with the mission God has given us. This means it is time for us to revisit and follow through on creating our own Non-Profit! This has been an intimidating and overwhelming task for us in the past, but we know that in order to follow the call God put on our hearts to connect youth to Jesus and the local church, we must pursue this!

If this is an area that you have any experience in, we would welcome any tips or connections you might have to make this a smooth process!
What To Pray For:
Pray for open doors and clear leading as we take steps toward the 501c3. The first step is determining if we need an attorney and how much the process will cost.
Pray for God's provision for the financial means to pay for establishing the non-profit.
Pray for the right connections to offer us help when and where we need it.

Half Step Package

In addition to the 501c3, we are working to put together a package of resources for Half Step at Faith to continue on without us physically present and to ease the process of starting up new Half Steps at other churches in the future.  This is a fun (and tedious) project that we are excited about and hopeful for what it will offer Half Step teams!
What To Pray For:
Pray for wisdom as we build these materials that we hope will inspire and equip Half Step leaders to love and lead those outside of the church like Jesus does!
One Last Prayer Request:
Please be praying for God to provide for us financially in these next few months.  A few supporters have moved on after their pledges ended and we are needing to pursue a few more monthly supporters.

If you would like to give you can do so here.

We Love You!

Thank you so much for praying over us, over camp, over Half Step. Thank you for your support. We know this has not always been an easy project to support, and we so appreciate your faithfulness in walking this journey with us. We love you and thank God for you!

Love, Abby & Brayden
