Beware of QuickBooks Phishing Scam!
Recently a few folks have told us they were being contacted by QuickBooks (either by phone or email) and told their subscription had been suspended. The scammer then says you need to renew the subscription, and ask for your credit card information.
Don’t give it to them! It’s almost certainly a scam.
Variations on this scam have been circulating for the last few years. You might get an automated recording (robo call) telling you that you need to pay. Or it may be an actual live person calling. As you talk with them, they may say they are “tech support” and ask to use a remote login to get onto your computer. Or they may say that your QuickBooks file is corrupted, and you should email your file/information to a certain address. If you show any hesitation, the “tech support” caller often turns rude, aggressive and/or argumentative.
If you’re suspicious, ask them for THEIR contact information. Then end the call.
If you’re contacted by email, DON’T click on any links.
You can report a scam directly to QuickBooks Security by going to https://security.intuit.com/contact-us. And you’re always welcome to email or call us, and we can investigate.
Be careful and be safe!
