I have been thinking about this mailing list / newsletter for a while. Mostly, what do I call it and what do I do with it? Is it a just a mailing list? Is it a newsletter? I guess it's both. But really, I want it to be more than that. Maybe this is the re-boot of Kalina Magazine but instead of single feature projects it's a compilation of projects and ideas. Anyway, I can't get the idea of the mailing list medium out of my head so it's time I really start using it.
Starting today, look out for a new email every week or so. The focus is going to be my art and work but I will expand beyond that. I am going to send links to things I recommend from podcasts to tv and movies to photo gear, books and other useful objects. I am also going to be self assigning stories about people and places I find interesting. It'll be great.

Bedmound - Los Angeles

"Bedmounds" is going to be a book!
Yoffy Press will be publishing it.
We are in the early design phase now and no release date has been set but hopefully it’ll be out within a year. I'll be updating everyone here when more details are available.
Special thanks to Cash App for the production funding.

Worlds Largest Teapot. Chester, WV
When I'm on the road I'm always looking for random things to check out. Lately I have been focusing on the "Worlds Largest" roadside attractions. I was thrilled to finally see the Worlds Largest Teapot in Chester, West Virginia. I've been wanting to see this beauty for a few years. It's basically right on the Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia border. Is it worth a detour? Probably not!
Read more about it here.

Cabin Porn “Inside” is coming out at the end of this year. I photographed the cover last winter at Beaver Brook in New York. The cover shows the interior of "Scott's Cabin" which was featured on the cover of the first book.  Cabin Porn Inside is all contributed photographs of cabins from all around the world.
I've seen the proofs and Zach Klein did an excellent job with this one. It's sure to be another classic.

I photographed Arden Scott and all of her sculptures last month at her studio in Greenport, Long Island.
Arden is having a show at VSOP Projects running July 20-August 25. If you are on the North Fork of Long Island this summer you should definitely check it out.

I made a short little video for my friend Katie Rogers' new art supply line Paper Fashion.
Check out the store here -
Katie is always inspiring me and I'm going to start painting soon.

Chuck with a Large Mouth Bass
Merriewold Lake
July 2016

I heard an episode of Future Perfect a few months ago and I can't stop thinking about it. It's called How to be a Better Carnivore and it essentially explains the best way to kill and eat a fish and how we basically do it wrong.
Take some time to listen to the episode and look into

Three Podcasts I've been into lately:
Factually! with Adam Conover
Philosophize This!
Ologies with Alie Ward
Lumberland, NY

That's it for now. I have a lot more planned for this Newsletter...? Mailing-list? Tell me what you think I should call it. Email me your thoughts and suggestions or just say hello.

See you next week.
