Juniors News - January 2020
From the Florida Director of Junior Clubs
Happy New Year! We are off to a great start to a new year and a new decade! But first... we wrap up 2019 with reporting on all the great projects, events, donations, socials and activities that Junior clubs accomplished last year. See Vice Director of Junior Clubs Christa Nuckols' article below mine for all the details.

...and after your reports are submitted on 1/15, be sure to submit some nominations to recognize outstanding members and projects -- most are due 2/1.

THANK YOU for taking the time to report. Your club reports are combined with Woman's Clubs & Juniorette Clubs to represent the amazing impact that all GFWC Florida clubwomen have in our communities and our state. And of course we know that our projects spread nationally and worldwide. THANK YOU for living the volunteer spirit!

Mark your calendars NOW for our next state meeting:
May 15-17,2020   GFWC Florida Annual Convention in Orlando

So proud to represent you and to serve you  --

It is that time of year again!  You know the time when clubs get to document all their fabulous projects and money donated!   We call it Reporting, but I prefer to call it a “proclamation of our passions!”  Florida Juniors are involved with so many organizations throughout the state and it is exciting to read about the projects, see the number of hours volunteered and calculate all the in-kind and dollars donated.  We are making a difference in our communities and it is important to capture this data!   If you are just starting to fill in the Reporting spreadsheet or almost complete, below are important dates to remember:

-January 8 (optional):  Reports due to Junior District Directors for assistance and review.

-January 15:   GFWC Florida Juniors reporting form sent via e-mail by 11:59PM to  Please copy Shannon Bailey and Christa Nuckols on the email, and Please note your reports will be ineligible for judging if not received on time.   Names, emails, phone numbers and addresses of current officers sent to GFWC Florida Director Elect of Junior Candice Postel at

-February 1:   All nomination forms are due.  Forms are posted  HERE on the GFWC Florida website.

Haven’t started on reporting?  Don’t stress.  There is still plenty of time!  Start with downloading and reading the Reporting Handbook and Reporting Spreadsheet from the web site at the link below.  Got questions?  Contact your JDD or send me a note!  Looking forward to receiving your reports!  ~Christa

Club reports are due January 15th! Click here for info

Take a look ladies! This is the future of GFWC! If you haven’t had the opportunity to see our GFWC Florida Juniorettes in action, just take a look at these photos showcasing our  amazing girls around the state! What’s a Juniorette, you say? A Juniorette (or in some clubs they are called Little Women) are the youngest members of our GFWC. These lovely young ladies are typically aged 12-18 and share a desire to serve others in their community and around the world! They do this through volunteering in various roles of leadership (in their local club and at the state level) and providing service to different charitable organizations. The best part is they can do this while making lifelong sisters-in-service...friendships for life! Meeting once a month for meetings and multiple times throughout the month for volunteer opportunities, these ladies epitomize Living the Volunteer Spirit!

GFWC Florida is a leader in GFWC with the number of Juniorette clubs in our state! GFWC FL was recognized at the 2019 GFWC Annual Convention in Austin for eleven of our Juniorette clubs! Each club membership ranges from 15 to more than 45 members. As members of GFWC, they are able to share in the partnerships we have like HOBY and Arts4All and St. Jude. Our young ladies have the desire to thrive in this world with a servant heart!

Juniors! You may be asking, “What can I do to help these amazing spirits?” Here’s what you can do. Support the Juniorette clubs in your area by having joint meetings. That way you can see exactly the drive these young ladies have to serve. Also, your club can sponsor a Juniorette club and encourage their participation in HOBY, an awesome leadership training opportunity. Finally, have joint projects. This is by far the easiest way to uplift, encourage, support, and set an example of what Unity in Diversity truly looks like. So, reach out to a Juniorette club near you and coordinate a joint endeavor. Remember a Juniorette is the entry point for GFWC and we have one continuous flow of service from middle school to adulthood!

Club Photos & News
GFWC Seminole Junior Woman's Club packed and distributed food for the two week winter school break to thirty five Seminole families. Each family received at least three boxes of food and a gift card for $25 to buy fresh meat and produce. Every family also received age appropriate books for each child in the family as part of the book heroes program. This is the 21st year the club has held its Share Our Spirit food drive and distribution.
GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Midtown gave 31 dozen cookies to MADD for Cookies for Cops! The cookies were delivered to officers working during holiday checkpoints in December as a way of showing appreciation.
