Show us new members and we will show you the money!!!!
Our goal is to really increase our GFWC Florida Junior membership during this administration.  We know you are all super competitive so we decided to provide an incentive!  We already have the Joyce Johnston Membership Increase award so the Junior club with the highest percentage increase is recognized, but instead of just being recognized at the 2020 GFWC Florida Convention, we will also fund a membership social for your club to celebrate all your new members!  We will have three winners, one in each category.  The club in each category with the highest percentage increase in members reported from 2018 to 2019 will win!  We will provide $100 to each category winner so your club can have a fun social to celebrate all your new members!

From the Junior Planning Committee
by Michelle Cortazzo, GFWC Florida Juniors' Special Program Chair

All Woman’s, Junior, Juniorette clubs are encouraged to make programs and projects that nurture the needs of children a priority every year during Advocates for Children Week. This year Advocates for Children Week will be from October 20-26, 2019. This is a great time to start planning exciting events in honor of Advocates for Children Week.

For GFWC Florida, we want to put a special focus on the problems of childhood obesity.  All club members should encourage healthy activities and eating patterns that are fun and easy for children and families to adopt. Such activities could include walking and short running races, or more structured programs such as a Trike-A-Thon. Sponsoring a Trike-A-Thon is a fun learning service program for daycares and preschools that teaches trike and riding toy safety while at the same time helping the children.

Another fun idea would be to have an event such as “Girls on the Run” to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using fun, experience-based curriculum that integrates running. Host a “TuTu Party” to fashion tulle tutus for the young girls to wear in their activities and race.

In addition to activity-based events, club members should also seek ways to focus and highlight healthy eating habits.  During your activities, include fun and creativity healthy snacks such as fresh fruits, vegetable sticks, sugar-free treats.  Make a list of such items to share with families.

Bulletins for GFWC Florida Juniors' Special Program can be found here.

Club Photos & News
Prevent Child Abuse America is one of GFWC's Partners under our Signature Program. Clubs did a great job spreading awareness by planting pinwheel gardens all over the state in April for Child Abuse Prevention month! Plan now to incorporate an event into next year's club calendar.
GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Midtown partnered with the Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend for the literary festival, Word of the South. ELC provided free books to every family and JWCM members led story time, handed out books and assisted children's author Eric Litwin. It was a wonderful day!
Book Heroes project are going strong! GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman's Club installed a Little Free Library at their local YMCA that they can't keep stocked!
