NCI welcomed our new Steering Committee to our first quarterly meeting in February and appointed Jimmy O'Keeffe as Chair and Ashling Cronin and Paddy Woodworth as joint Vice-Chairs to help steer our organisation for the next two years. You can read their profiles below, and visit our site for more updates on our team and their work, also follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn & YouTube.
New NCI Steering Committee Chair Jimmy O'Keeffe is a hydrologist and lecturer at Dublin City University, where he is co-developing a course in Climate and Environmental Sustainability. Jimmy, pictured left, has over 12 years’ experience working on natural capital and ecosystem services in Ireland, UK and South Asia, with farmers, developers, regulatory authorities and governments. He recently helped organise Ireland's Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss. Co-Vice Chair Ashling Cronin, right, has over 14 years of experience in ecological/environmental assessment and environmental management across the private and public sector. Her aim is to help drive and deliver the natural capital agenda at a strategic and national level. Long-standing NCI member and author Paddy Woodworth will share the Vice Chair role.

HELP US DEVELOP NCI STRATEGY: The Board of Natural Capital Ireland invites tender submissions to prepare a Strategic Plan for our organisation for the period 2023–2026. We wish to engage the services of a consultant to guide us through the process of preparing the Strategic Plan. The final deliverable will include a Strategic Plan ready for publication as well as supporting documentation, to include a stakeholder review and competitive landscape review. Apply by March 3.

Voluntary National Review on the SDGs: NCI has submitted our views on how the natural capital approach can support the Sustainable Development Goals via an integrated framework to value nature's contributions in all aspects of our society and economy.  It will inform Ireland's presentation on the Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July. Natural Capital Tools
ENCORE (Exploring Natural Capital Opportunities, Risks and Exposure) is a business assessment tool which helps users to better understand how environmental changes might impact their business and the wider economy. Developed by the Natural Capital Finance Alliance in partnership with UNEP-WCMC and financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the MAVA Foundation, it focuses on the goods and services provided by nature, and helps assess potential risks to business continuity. Lucy Gaffney of our Business For Biodiversity Ireland wrote about it for their site's #BizBioTools section. More HERE
