Announcing: Big peat meet-up for Autumn 2021

Dear members,

We are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with a collective of peatlands experts to bring you an exciting new event for autumn 2021 - Peatlands Gathering, an open forum to promote dialogue about the importance of peatland areas for nature, culture and heritage. Save the dates - October 7-8, 2021 (taking place online, with the hope of field trips to some of Ireland's peatland hotspots at the weekend). More information below.

In an eventful month, Natural Capital Ireland made a detailed submission the National Climate Action Plan call for expert evidence, the key points of which are available on our latest blog, and held a very productive Data4Nature workshop - full report coming soon.
We officially welcomed Iseult Sheehy as Natural Capital Ireland's Executive Coordinator, who presented on the Irish natural capital framework at the recent INTERREG Europe Progress event. Iseult can be reached for queries at the following email address -

As ever, if you have any input for our newsletter, website or social media updates, you can also get in touch at our general email address below.

Natural Capital Ireland has joined forces with a collective of peatland community representatives, practitioners, researchers and specialists to bring you a new event - Peatlands Gathering 2021. It will consist of a two-day online forum on October 7-8 with presentations and dialogue, hopefully with the option to get out to enjoy the beauty of the bogs over a series of field trips on Saturday, October 9. Follow the Twitter account @PeatlandsG for news of speaker line-up, and watch this space for registration.
Natural Capital Ireland made submissions across several key areas of the recent Climate Action Plan 2021 Call for Expert Evidence, which called for views grounded in a comprehensive cross-sectoral perspective on the changes required to meet Ireland’s 2030 and 2050 climate ambition – read some of the key points from our submission on categories including Enterprise, Agriculture, Forestry & Tourism here.
NCI welcomes our new executive coordinator
Following two years as an active member of Natural Capital Ireland, Iseult Sheehy was appointed to the role of Executive Coordinator in May 2021, taking the reigns from Orlaith Delargy. Iseult currently works with the sustainability team at Trinity College Dublin, and holds a Masters in Sustainable Development and a BA in Economics and Political Science. A big welcome to Iseult.
