Follow-up to our September Monthly Meeting
During the Break-out Session of our September 12th Meeting, some great ideas were exchanged for ways to stay connected, develop social interactions, and meet needs for exercising and caregiving. We already have in place some really positive offerings.
We have sent separate emails regarding classes:
Dance for PD
Voice & Communication
Please investigate those offerings and think about the possibility of joining them. You may want to check our website: parkinsonsonomacounty.org
( located under “Resources” for many offerings from our local and national groups)
Many are available without charge. Everyone is trying to make life interesting, fun, engaging, and enlightening with their offerings.
PSGSC is offering a scholarship for our members to take LSVT-BIG Training. It is offered by several certified local Physical Therapists, Kaiser and the VA. This is a 16-session, one-on-one program designed for people with PD. Research has demonstrated the program can improve movement, realign posture, improve ability to do everyday activities and impact quality of life. If you are interested, please contact PSGSC Board Member, Bill Jordan for more information at: (334) 220-6037 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Caregiving is an equally important aspect of the journey with PD. Excellent, current Caregiver Information is provided by email to those on the Caregiver email list of Robin Riddle at Stanford. Mailing list contact: email@example.com This group culls all of the articles, webinars and talks in national newspapers, medical magazines and foundations specifically geared to caregivers of those with PD and cognitive impairment.
PSGSC also has two caregiver groups which meet regularly. If you would like to join one of these groups or begin a new one, please contact:
