Happy Christmas and God's richest blessings to all of you for the coming new year!! We thank God for each one of you - the prayer partners, the donors, the ministry partners - every one of you for making 2021 a year of much thanksgiving. We ended the year with our first South Africa national conference in two years and with another trip into Africa to explore new partnerships. We also had an excellent board meeting at which we looked at the AFC strategy for the next few years. What became clear is that God is both leading us clearly and providing faithfully - we praise His Name!
SA National Conference October 2021
It was a great blessing to finally gather in Nelson Mandela Bay, Gqeberha with 50 church planters and leaders, after 2 years of COVID restrictions. Our main speakers were: Thomas Maphophe a mission leader from Limpopo and new board member for AFC; Nsimba Baboka a mission leader and pastor from Congo and based in Cape Town. Our themes were 'Planting Healthy Churches' and 'Mission to the Unreached'. Shadrack Monageng our national trainer lead several afternoon sessions on the first theme. We also had workshops on Vegetable gardens by Farming God's Way and Small Business start ups by Khanyisa Credit . ' The things we learnt from each other and the encoruagement I received in this week cannot be measured ' was a quote from one of the church planters. Finally, we had devotions daily using the new materials from Heartlines called 'Fathers Matter' and it was transformational!!
Sierra Leone and The Red Crescent of Islam over Northern Africa
Jeremy and Marlene had the priviledge of visiting Freetown, Sierra Leone for a church planting training in November that we did with a group of leaders, focusing on how to reach M-slim communities. SL is 80% M-slim and the group was hungry to learn: ' I wish we had learnt this 10 years ago ' ; ' can I bring 50 more pastors to this training ' were some of the feedback after day one. As we finished our time with this amazing group we realized that a new dawn has come - the African church is ready, willing and able to reach into the large unreached areas of North Africa that are dominated by Islam and have very little witness. We confirmed a partnership with a local mission in SL and will begin supporting them in 2022 as they launch teams into m-slim areas of their country. Our Board Startegy session in November was completely confirmed as we commit to Africa reaching the rest of Africa, still caught under the cloak of Islam. (4 of the men in the FOTO are from M-slim Background and now follow Him)
Praise God for:
- tremendous fellowship and encoruagement at the national conference
- great new partner in Sierra Leone
- Clear vision from the Lord on AFC reaching into Islamic Africa . Please pray for:
- the pastors and workers who got training in Freetown , and their efforts to reach M-slims
- Our pastors in SA who are working to recover ground after COVID lockdowns
Until end of January next year we wish you all blessed seasons greetings!!!
In Christ, Jeremy and the AFC team
