There's a nip in the air, and that means it's the perfect time to curl up with a good book. Of course, in my mind, anytime is the perfect time for a book!
Want to learn something new? Join us Thursday, October 17, for our iCan! All Hands on Tech class. Prefer self-paced learning? Try Gale Courses! With more than 360 12-lesson courses available, you're sure to find interesting classes, many which may count toward professional development. All you need is a library card and a few hours a week.
Drop into The Retirement Classroom to Get to Know Medicare, October 14, at 6pm, and follow up with Social Security and Taxes in Retirement, October 23.
We offer two special 8-week storytime series. If your little one is under a year, Baby & Me is just right. For toddlers, Tiny Tots is perfect. These special story times for babies and their caregivers feature simple stories, rhymes, and songs selected especially for our youngest patrons. Each session includes a short playtime!
For older children, attend our Family Storytimes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings. Wednesday, October 30, will feature a Spooky Storytime. Come in costume!
Watch Family Films when school's closed. We're showing Disney's Aladdin, October 18. Attend LEGO Clubs and Discovery Lab.
Teens are invited to an evening of crafting, Tuesday, October 29, at 6pm. And I know no one wants to think about this yet, but the Library once again is offering the Teen Exam Cram to coincide with Homestead High School's exams in November.

Author Visit:
J. F. Riordan
Thursday, Oct. 17, 6:30pm
"Reflections on a Life in Exile" is Ms. Riordan's first book of personal essays. By turns deeply spiritual and gently comic, these brief meditations range from the inconveniences of modern life to the shifting nature of grief. The author captures the passing beauty of the ordinary and extraordinary that lingers near the surface of daily life.
This event co-sponsored by Boswell Book Company, Milwaukee.
