Dear Friend,

September is National Library Card Sign Up Month. Everyone ages 5 and up is eligible for a card. We are collecting Food for Fines ($2 per item off your late fees, no credits will be issued). We are also distributing free replacement cards. With every new or replacement card you will receive a FLWL keychain.

The big question on our mind these days is "When will the parking lot be finished?" Sadly, we don't know the answer. Loan periods are back to normal, but we have a few suggestions to make your life easier.
  • You may return items at any Monarch Library System Public Library. Several nearby libraries offer drive-up book returns, including Cedarburg and Port Washington.
  • You may use our Quick Pickup Service. The pickup window is located at the southeast corner of the building and may be more convenient for you. You can make an appointment to pick up your reserved items via our easy to use Monarch2Go app, available free from your app store.
  • If you'd prefer to pick up your items at another library simply go into your account online and change the pickup library. Any items already on hold will be sent to the Monarch Library of your choice. Or call us at (262) 242-2593, option 1, and we will make the change for you.
  • Items without holds may be renewed.
Meanwhile, this is also a great time to tryout our electronic resources. Check out ebooks, eaudiobooks, emagazines, music and movies via Libby and Hoopla. Just download the apps and start checking out items from your computer, phone, or eReader. You may also want to check out our databases. A to Z Database is a great way to research resources for your business, and to look up former classmates. Transparent Language is an easy-to-use language program that offers more than 100 languages for English speakers and native speakers of more than 2 dozen other languages.

After a brief end of summer hiatus, Family Storytimes Tuesday and Wednesday mornings  at 10:30 resume September 13. No registration is required. You will need to register your K-2 children for Crazy 8s Math Club which meets Mondays in September, October, and November at 4:30pm. Visit our Children's Events page for information on activities and events for your children.
For teens we're offering something new, Read It. Make It, the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm, brings together readers and makers. Each session we will talk about the book and work on a STEM activity or craft connected to the book. All selections are available to check-out or request through the Monarch Library System. All materials needed will be provided. Open to 5th through 8th graders. Registration is required. and available by clicking the link or calling the library. Ask a librarian if you have any further questions!  Here are the first three titles:

Fine Arts Series features

A Tale of Beatrix Potter

Sunday, September 18, 1:30pm

Debra Ann Miller is a professional actress, vocalist and voice-over talent with over 30 years of experience as a performer for live audiences, television, and film. Debra brings historical women to life. For us she is bringing beloved children's author and illustrator Beatrix Potter to the library for a lovely afternoon. Much like her character Peter Rabbit, she had a mind of her own; did not hesitate to squeeze under & around the barriers to keep women out of the world of work and science; and got into her fair share of scrapes with "Gentlemen Gardeners".
