What a busy start to the half term it has been! We've had a concert at the Albert Hall, a trip to see a concert at the Royal College of Music, a visit to Chelsea Fire Station, baking bread with our caterers, baking across the school for Fairtrade fortnight, World Book Day...the list goes on! We were also visited by Ofsted on the second day back and are really looking forward to being able to share the full report with you as soon as we are allowed to.
Thank you to those of you who completed the parent survey and thank you to our fantastic team of staff and children for their hard work! We are very proud of everything that happens at Marlborough and are pleased that we had the opportunity to share that with Ofsted. World Book Day was a great success and all week we have had a whole range of activities happening linked to books. There are lots of photos in this week's email but even more on our twitter feed so make sure to follow us online.

Special Announcement
After an amazing 33 years at Marlborough, one of our longest serving members of staff, Mrs Pamela Wheeler, has taken the difficult decision to retire. Pam has supported children across the school with many different aspects of their learning over the years and we are sorry to see her go. We wish her all the best in retirement and will keep in touch with her once she leaves. Pam's last day will be on Friday 22nd March.

World Book Day
We had a great day on World Book Day! There were lots of amazing costumes worn by children and it was great to see so many of the staff team dressed up! Have a look on twitter for more photos from the day. All week we have been celebrating books and there have been lots of activiteis including older children reading with younger children during the week. Speak to your child about what they've read and done this week over the weekend and find out all about it!
CONVO
The MPS choir performed with almost 1000 other children in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday evening. Well done to the choir and huge thanks to Miss Van Buuren and Katrine for supporting the children throughout the project!
Fairtrade baking
Lots of baking has been happening all week as part of Fairtrade fortnight ready for the bake sale on Friday afternoon. We can't wait to taste the lovely treats!
Lego Trip
We have a good partnership with the team over at Lego Education and often get invited to take part in their events. Last week we sent a team of Year 6 children to give them feedback on their corporate 'PlayDay' ideas.
Book Club visit to Waterstones
Book Club have been to Waterstones twice over the last two weeks to carry out some reading research. They had a sneak peak at recently released books and picked up some book donations that Waterstones have kindly given the school.
Year 3 trip to the Royal College of Music
Year 3 enjoyed their trip to the Royal College of Music this week to watch the concert 'A Fantastic Journey'. The children had the chance to meet the musicians and talk to them about the instruments they played. We love music at MPS!
Stay and Learn
Thank you to the families who joined us for the Stay and Learn session in Reception this week. It's great to see children and their families learning side by side!
Anstruther House Purchases
This fantastic addition to the Bodyshop in Anstruther House provides children with organising and calming input to support their emotional regulation as well as body awareness and coordination. We were able to purchase the hammock with donations from our Chair of Governors Will Pascal and the Christmas Fair money.
Don't forget to follow us on twitter for more photos of the amazing learning that takes place every day at Marlborough!

Class Reps
Thank you to those of you who are class representatives for your class. We are currently looking for a parent rep for Reception, Year 5 and Year 6 classes. If you think you would be interested in becoming a parent rep for your child’s class please speak to a member of staff on the playground after school.
Lost Property
Lost property is now located in the main office. Please check that your child's name is written clearly somewhere on all items of their clothing.

Year 3 Books
Thank you to Chelsfield (the company who ran the Christmas card competition) for donating money that has helped us replenish our reading books in Year 3. The children have enjoyed having access to new books and are loving reading them! Here are a couple of their thoughts:

"I've read some of the new books and they're great!"
"Look at all the books - it's so exciting!"

Internet Matters Advice

Keeping up to date with what your children are doing online can seem daunting. Technology is constantly advancing and sometimes parents feel that their children know more about the internet than they do.

Whatever their age, Internet Matters can help you to find out more about what they might be doing online and give you some simple, practical and easy advice on the steps you can take as a parent to keep them as safe as possible.

See here for their excellent age banded advice guides.
