Hillsboro City Library News

The Hillsboro Library has new operating hours, a new e-book lending app, a new way to borrow digital magazines and a whole bunch of family fun coming at you in October. 

New Hours: 
Monday          9 AM - 7 PM
Tuesday         9 AM - 6 PM
Wednesday    9 AM - 5 PM
Thursday        9 AM - 7 PM
Friday           10 AM - 4 PM
Saturday       10 AM - 2 PM
Sunday               Closed

New eBook and Digital Magazine Apps:
By downloading the new cloudLibrary app, you will have access to more than 220,000 e-books and audiobooks from libraries across the state, including ours. This means, more titles to choose from and shorter wait times on the materials you are interested in reading. The new cloudLibrary NewStand app provides access to 7,000 magazines and newspapers from around the globe. 

cloudLibrary and NewsStand are free services, available to all library patrons – all you need is your library card number. The apps are available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. As a Hillsboro City Library Patron, you can simply download the app, log in using your library card number and pin to start interacting with the digital library while you are on the go.

Curbside:
The Hillsboro City Library is open to the pubic, but we are still offering curbside services to anyone who would rather use that option. To use our curbside service, reserve materials online at hillsboro.biblionix.com or by phone at (254) 582-7385. Staff will retrieve your selected items and you will receive a phone call when they are ready to be picked up.

Call the library when you are outside and a staff member will bring your materials to your vehicle. 

Mobile Printing:
If you are coming to the library to use one of our printing services, please consider sending your print job in advance using our mobile PrinterOn app.

What's Happening

Art in the Garden
Bring the whole family on Saturday, October 9th from 10 AM - 2 PM for Art in the Garden. 

We will supply the materials for this self guided activity, if you will supply the imagination!

Grab paint, brush and paper at the front desk and head outside to one of the paint easels and turn on your creativity! 

This is a self-guided, weather permitting activity. Social distancing practices are appreciated.

Visit the library for a #hillsborotxrocks rock painting session on the library's front sidewalk. 

Bring the whole family, paint a rock and hide it somewhere in the community for someone else to find!

Scavenger Hunt
Can you complete our annual fall scavenger hunt?

Bring the family to the library, during business hours, October 28 - 30 to complete the scavenger hunt and earn some SWEET TREATS!

StoryWalk
Stop by our StoryWalk in Hillsboro City Park to read "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything" by Linda Williams. 

When you finish, swing by the library and grab an adorable take & make scarecrow craft!

(Not) Your Mom’s Book Club is a book club for teens where we read and talk about classics and how their plots are relevant today. In the future, this book club will be hosted in-person, but for now it will be hosted virtually through Discord. Participants must sign up, and once they have filled out the short form, they will be emailed a link to join the Discord server. Meetings will begin on Monday, October 18.

The first book up for discussion is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Copies of the book can be checked out at the
library, or digitally through CloudLibrary, SimplyE, Project Gutenberg, or LibriVox.
