Breathe in. Breathe out. That is what I am doing right now. Can you take a minute to do that right now?
Breathe in. Breathe out. That is what I am doing right now. Can you take a minute to do that right now? Breathe in. Take a slow, deep breath right now. You deserve it. You may truly need it, a short break and investment in self-care.
It has been a long week, after a very long and stressful 8 months. Many are feeling the impact of COVID-19, economic insecurity and isolation. These past months have deepened inequities for families already affected by trauma, racism and poverty and have created barriers to accessing resources many families need.
If you have been feeling the roller-coaster of emotions in recent days, know that you are not alone. Many are feeling overwhelmed and tired. These are very challenging times.
With so much uncertainty it is important to focus on the items in our life that feel grounded and stable. For me, that is my family, my friendships, and my work.
Family Education & Support Services is responding to the crisis in a number of ways. We quickly mobilized to address immediate needs, demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt our services and programs to be available virtually, and remain a consistent resource and support for families in Mason, Thurston, and Lewis Counties.
Now is the time to focus on what comes next - for ourselves and our families.
I hope you take time for yourself today. Find a small moment of joy just for you, and while you're at it, take another deep breath.
You need it. We all need it,
Family Education & Support Services is on a mission to prevent childhood trauma, heal children and families, and build resilient communities.

Holiday Giving Program
Thank you so much for your past support of Family Education & Support Services annual holiday gift program. For about a decade those living at Jubilee, a retirement community in Lacey, have sponsored our Kinship Families through their holiday giving tree program. This year, their efforts are especially welcome - as they are committed to help bring the joy of the Holiday Season to these families.
New this year, 1st Security Bank in Lacey has stepped up to host a giving tree for our Parent Child Assistance Program (PCAP) Families. If your family is able and willing to select a name from either tree, I assure you that it will be most appreciated and will have an enormous impact on the lives of these families during the holiday season.
