Overheard on Podcasting, Seriously Live

Kasia Mychajlowycz, Senior Producer at The Globe and Mail joined us on Twitter Spaces last week to share her experience producing The Decibel, a daily Canadian news podcast. We covered a typical day of production, the importance of context, and why a relatable podcast host is key.
Some great takeaways are:
- Daily podcast productions are a whirlwind of moving parts. A typical day includes a meet-up at the top of the morning to agree on the goals, then straight into recording. Many guests on The Decibel are reporters at The Globe (take advantage of your resources at hand!). Editor's cut the audio, then it's sent to be mixed in the late afternoon and ready for release the next morning. Whew!
- Context is everything. Be sure that the content you're sharing is well-rounded. You only hold your audience's attention for a certain amount of time, so make it a valuable experience by delivering clear, concise, and relevant information.
- Build in the ability for your host to be an authentic person– impressionable, curious and enjoyable. They can be the difference between talking at your audience vs. being in conversation.
