August Update

MSOF Family,

It would be wrong to start this update without acknowledging the news from Afghanistan.  For twenty years we sent our friends, family, the best of the best repeatedly to the mountains and hills of Afghanistan. Unpacking the memories, thoughts, feeling will take time, listening and friends and family. If you or a friend need help processing your service with the news, here are 4 resources that stand ready.
1. The Veterans Crisis Line, call: 800-273-8255 and press 1 or text: 838255
2. Give an Hour
3. Military One Source
4. If you are active duty, also consider reaching out to your POTFF/HPW assets.

As we look ahead, our MSOF team is relieved to put the PCS season behind us and march forward to add certainty to the health and wellbeing of special operations families. This fall, we look forward to sharing new health and wellness resources to include health fact sheets, a spouse wellness program, and many other resources. Stay tuned to hear more on this front.

Many of you have kiddos who just started back to school or are just days from getting back in the classroom saddle. Take advantage of the back to school season and double down on healthy routines like sleep and fitness. Pick at least 1 meal time to have family dinner. These tasks sound simple, but these habits are easy to take for granted. Yet, they are the daily actions and moments that cement our family into a place of strength, success and wellness.

Please take a minute and look at the resources linked below, share them with friends, and reach out if you are in need.

Best,
KaLea Lehman, Executive Director
