Central Oregon Businesses Give Extra Reasons to Donate This Holiday Season!

For the first time, Furry Freight is participating in the Source Weekly’s Central Oregon Gives! Every week until December 31st different Central Oregon businesses give an incentive for you to donate to help save shelter pets! For a $25 donation or more you are given a free gift and an entry to win a prize. The incentive changes weekly and this week's is a free pint of Kombucha at Humm Taproom an entry for a chance to win a $100 gift card to Roam at the Oxford Hotel and a customized Pet ID Tag and matching owner ring or bracelet. Check back every week to see what local businesses have to offer. You might find yourself donating more than once! Help us reach our goal to raise $2000 to help save more shelter pets!

Fill The Van With Cans!

Here’s your chance to get rid of all of those Oregon deposit bottles and cans you have piling up and help save shelter pets at the same time! Swing by Bend Pet Express West (133 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR) November 20th 11am-2pm and drop off empty OR deposit bottles and cans. We will have the transport van there so you can see the van that has transported over 700 animals from overpopulated areas like Oklahoma, Texas and Southern California to our rescue partners in the Pacific Northwest that have space and adopters waiting. Bottle Drop is also matching 20% of all cans brought in now through December 1st, so your donations go even further!

Has Your Pup Been A Good Girl or Boy This Year?

Reward your good girl or boy with some Furry Freight homemade dog treats! Our volunteer bakers have been hard at work putting love into these high value treats! Three flavors are available at both Bend Pet Express locations including P-Mutt Butter, Pumpkin P-Mutt and Dehydrated Sweet Potato now until December 24th! These fly off the shelves so get yours today! Your pup will thank you!

ADOPTIONS!

Here are just a few of the recent adoptions of Furry Freight alumni. All of these pets were once homeless and stuck in very overpopulated Oklahoma where they didn’t have much chance of finding their furever family. Thanks to your support we were able to drive them to the Pacific Northwest where they have found their furever homes.

Genie, now Molly, was found as a stray and taken to Tulsa Animal Welfare where she was adopted then returned for no fault of her own. Since the shelter was full, our partners pulled her to a foster home where her foster Mom described her as “the easiest, greatest dog”. We think she was right since Molly was adopted very quickly by a wonderful family in Central Oregon. Here is what they have to say… “Just wanted to say our family in Oregon is so happy you transported our dog, Molly, from Oklahoma to the Brightside Shelter in Redmond, OR. We adopted her 2 months ago and are enjoyed her so much! She gets a lot of love from 3 kiddos...”

“Hello! We just wanted to send a big thank you from Oregon! Last week, we had the wonderful opportunity to adopt Jake (previously Donatello) thanks to you! After weeks of visiting the Tangent, Oregon SafeHaven to find the right pup, he was brought out from the back and it was love at first sight! We instantly clicked and brought him home the next day. It has been one full week with each other and we couldn’t be happier! Again, thank you!
Sincerely, One Happy Family”

Kirkland (on the right) was found skinny and abandoned at a rural property in Oklahoma after his owners moved away. The new property owners let our rescue partners have access to the property to try to catch Kirkland as he was skittish of people understandably. It took a few days of feeding Kirkland to gain his trust before his rescuer could get a leash on him and take him into foster care. Lucky for Kirkland he got a ride with Furry Freight to our partners in Oregon where his furever family fell in love and renamed him Winston. His family says… “He is coming out of his shell more and more each day! Thanks for providing this service so we could become his forever family”.

Giving Thanks

This time of year always reminds us of why we are thankful. Volunteers, donors, and partners make this crazy mission of ours possible. So speaking for the 768 pets to date that we have transported to better lives…we say thanks. Please enjoy this video of some of the fun times we’ve had saving shelter pets one road trip at a time…
