1. Knysna Oyster Festival “Limited Edition”
Again, we have had to do a pivot on the Knysna Oyster Festival, but in an even shorter time-frame than in the last couple of years.  Thank you to everyone who gave inputs to this very important discussion and decision.  On Tuesday, an official statement press release was distributed locally and nationally and has been incorporated onto various media platforms, including www.iol.co.za

Please ensure you include the words “Limited Edition” (in inverted commas) when promoting this year’s Knysna Oyster Festival (as per paragraph heading) – as festivals in their normal format are currently not allowed.

Our marketing has been adjusted in line with the new format, encouraging family visitors and longer stays, now focussed on targeting the Western Cape and Eastern Cape specifically.  The digital campaign will continue until 7 July and regional radio campaigns will commence next week, continuing until 16 July. WESGRO have adjusted their Travelstart platform too, adding the Kids Stay Free promotion into Knysna Oyster Festival “Limited Edition” marketing mix, targeting the school holiday audience.

It is now up to us, together, to deliver on this “Limited Edition” experience and hopefully thereby also assisting our economy.  The most important request is that we continue to conform to the Level 4 regulations as gazetted and ensure safety protocols are in place whilst hosting visitors to our beautiful destination.
Dress the Town:  now more than ever, we encourage you to “dress the town” – decorate your business or home in festival logo colours :  wrap fabric around a nearby tree or order bunting ribbon from:

House of Trendi on 081 574 2522 or what’s app 079 711 7179 – or make your own.
A reminder to businesses that have offerings in the Programme to collect your “Venue Poster” from:
  • Knysna / Rheenendal / Goukamma - from the Visit Knysna office at 40 Main Road
  • Sedgefield / Karatara / Barrington – from Fijnbosch Coffee Shop, at 30 Main Service Road
2. Knysna Yacht Company – factory tour
Today, our Visit Knysna team visited the Knysna Yacht Company.  What an interesting experience – and highly recommended for anyone who has an interest in this industry.  This experience is one of the Factory Tours that has been set up through Ypie Kingma and the Greater Knysna Business Chamber (GKBC) as a “Business Activity” and is on offer to visitors during the upcoming Knysna Oyster Festival “Limited Edition”.
3. Buffalo Bay ‘Boardwalk
The boardwalk is “making waves”, with daily and ongoing progress into the Knysna Interactive Art Project.  Thank you to the community of Buffalo Bay as well as everyone involved in ensuring the fruition of the Knysna Art Route’s vision.  Let us be proud of our positive progresses.

4. Masks with Meaning
We are currently implementing phase 3 of this community initiative, distributing masks in Concordia, White Location and Rheenendal, amongst other areas.  We encourage everyone to please abide by the regulations at all times.
