The decision to continue with the Knysna Oyster Festival as a “Limited Edition” was to ‘prove’ that, even in restricted times, as the tourism industry we can and need to continue to canvass towards hostings – events and meetings.   It was about ‘#travelling for good’ – to help keep small businesses alive.  Yes, it was not the same, but it was better than nothing.  It also was an opportunity to promote and invite the domestic market to experience the greater Knysna area – if, at this stage, only via digital or promotional means:  the message was out there.  And ‘the show went on…..’

The Knysna Oyster Festival was always planned to be operable at Level 3 but had to be re-imagined to a “Limited Edition” when Level 4 was declared by the President.  Because of this approach, we could adapt seamlessly to continue to promote the event.  We would like to thank everyone involved in the pre-planning and implementation of this year’s hosting.  It was about “keeping the festival alive, whilst looking towards the future….”.
