Hello <<First Name>>
Welcome to this week’s issue of The Teaching Space Extra.
Let's start with a little housekeeping: you’ll (hopefully!) notice you are receiving my regular email at the weekend instead of a Tuesday. I’ve been re-assessing my weekday commitments because I plan to do as much study for my MA as possible early mornings, before work. The knock-on effect is moving The Teaching Space activity to the weekend. I’ll release podcasts on a Saturday morning and email you on a Sunday.
Re-assessing your weekly commitments from time-to-time is important, and I encourage you to do the same.
This Week’s Podcast
This week’s podcast is all about starter activities. Here’s your link to the episode: Effective Starter Activities. Stay tuned for next weekend's partner episode on plenaries (it's a corker of an interview).
As always, I’d love to hear from you if you want to pitch a topic idea or interview opportunity for the podcast. If you’d like to be a guest on the show then this guidance document might help.
Most Frequently Used Apps This Week
The apps I’ve been using most this week are:
- 3 Good Things: a simple happiness journal.
- Blinkist: as mentioned last week - I just paid for a year’s membership.
- Woven: a new calendar app I’ve been playing with.
Must-Read Blog Post
One of my favourite edu-bloggers, Tom Sherrington, published a cracking blog post this week: The #1 problem/weakness in teaching and how to address it. The title is a little click-baity, but the content is GOLD. I promise. Let me know what you think.

OK that’s all from me today. I’ll catch you next weekend (when hopefully I will have adjusted to my new schedule). Have a great week.
