Dear Sirs and Madams,

As a local Utah author, I would love to see my recently published book, Ask a Suffragist: Stories and Wisdom from America’s First Feminists, included in your library collection.  The book is a hardcover nonfiction trade book, available through Ingram with a 55% wholesale discount. Both a standard and a large print edition are available. Kirkus Reviews called it, “a highly readable and engaging work of firmly constructed history.”

Ask a Suffragist channels the wisdom of the first generation of American feminists as exemplars and advisors to help us find solutions relevant to our modern world, sharing the radical lives and prescient wisdom of our activist foremothers. Instead of droning on like an encyclopedia entry about dates, meeting minutes and genealogy charts, Ask a Suffragist emphasizes collaborative relationships, strategies, and activism—pressing concerns for modern activists. Each chapter describes how suffragists addressed a challenge that activists worry about today such as balancing activism with work and personal life, choosing their battles or getting their voices heard.

Ask a Suffragist celebrates diversity instead of neatly pointing readers into one right way of living, highlighting the stories of famous suffragists as well as rank-and-file workers. Many of the suffragists featured are of racial minority background. The book is timely, being released during a resurgence of interest in feminist activism and as we prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment.
