Friday 23rd April 2021

Dear families,

Today is St George’s Day where the country will join in celebration of England’s patron saint, St George.

Also known as the Feast of St George, England’s national day is celebrated on April 23 each year. Children, this weekend we would like you to find an interesting fact about St George and share it with your teacher.

School Life & Community News

Swimming

Yr 6 will be attending a swimming lesson on Monday 26th April.

This will give the children the opportunity to put all their safety knowledge into practice regarding COVID-19 safety measures etc.

A vast amount of work has gone into the planning of Monday so please help by:
  • coming prepared with your kit and swimming cap;
  • leaving unnecessary items of clothing at home e.g. school tie/hair bows etc;
  • not sending your child to school if they are unwell.

Class 13 will go in the morning- children please be in school on time.

Class 14 will go in the afternoon.

Parking

Safety of our children is at the top of everyone’s priority list.

Parking on Sidney Powell Ave has become hazardous.

Parking near to school or on the pavement is a convenience but dangerous to those on foot.

Help prevent a serious accident by parking with caution and respect.
Resilience

We have sent information to families about resilience and some school tasks that we are doing.

Resilience helps us to bounce back when things get tough or do not go as we want or expect.

2 Tips for home this week:

Help your child treat mistakes as things they should expect to happen and as learning opportunities.

- Try not to be too outcome - focussed (grade/level/percentage); instead look at the process or effort as what is most important. Encourage your son/daughter to concentrate on the feedback they are getting as a way to
improve. Always value their efforts as an individual and avoid comparisons.

- Try to model an ability to recover from any disappointment or something being discouraging and look to move forward. Encourage your son/daughter not to dwell on disappointments, so that these don’t affect how they
approach the next task they face.

Vote for Us! - Dot ART

Our Yr 5 children created some fabulous dotart creations.

The banner above (Or link below) will take you to the voting.

Let’s give our children the chance to shine and receive more votes than any other school. Please take a minute to vote.

Of course - their artwork is marvellous.

The three finalists are:
Lukas, Oliver and Meadow.

Thank you from Yr 5.

Sun Safety
Please apply a layer of sunscreen each day this week.

Hats are also advisable at play and lunchtimes.

Any UV levels above 3 are high enough to require sunscreen.

The levels for this week are expected to be 6.

We may not all be able to holiday in far-flung places, but we are looking forward to being back together with those we love.

To celebrate, we’re helping children and grown-ups alike become Summer Explorers, inspiring them to make the most of this special time, staying sun safe along the way. Find out more  by clicking on the picture below and don't forget  to enter the competition to try and win some great prizes.
