Route One Farmers Market To Kick Off
National Farmers Market Week
On Sunday August 1, 2021

The Route One Farmers Market will join its counterparts across the nation in celebration of National Farmers Market Week, August 1-7, with live music, food trucks and family fun from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021

Singer/songwriter Emily Wryn, a Lompoc native, will provide live music from noon to 2:00 p.m. A local yoga instructor will lead kid-friendly poses on the lawn area adjacent to the vendor booths. Food truck Cisco Kid will have a delicious variety of tacos, and all of the market’s wonderful weekly vendors will have quality goods. Craft vendors, among them Biker Spice, TJM Handcrafted Wood and Juan the Sharpener, will also have their wares and services for sale.
Julia’s Juices, a customer favorite, will have vegan soup and homemade crackers available for purchase. Route One Farmers Market supports 14 vendors Sundays at 3745 Constellation Rd. in the parking lot of the Community Services District office.
“We have all been through so much together in the two years since we opened, so we are delighted to join this national celebration to highlight the integral work and services provided by Farmers Markets all over the country,” said Shelby Wild, market manager.

Wild urged guests to bring chairs or blankets for seating on the lawn area to enjoy food and the live music.

Mirroring its national counterparts, Route One has remained open throughout the pandemic with safety plans to keep customers healthy. Farmers who operate with short supply chains — from the field to consumers — are resilient, and were able to respond and quickly adapt to restrictions from the pandemic.
As essential operations, farmers markets create relationships between farmers and their communities, with their goal to provide a fair and sustainable food systems based around shared values. Route One is the only market within a 67-mile stretch (between the cities of San Luis Obispo and Solvang) to accept EBT and Market Match.

Leading for Community Impact provides a unique, powerful professional development opportunity for social sector leaders serving Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa Ynez Valley, and the surrounding communities. Attendees will meet in Santa Maria for a day each month from October 2021 through August 2022 to grow their skills and confidence to effectively lead our organizations and the greater community. Applications are due by August 15, 2021.  Visit the website and attend an information session for more information.
