Tarukantokhu: Digital Design Rooted in Storytelling Tradition
 
It's wonderful to see our community growing! Jean-Luc Perite uploaded a new lesson integrating digital fabrication with storytelling traditions from indigenous peoples, in collaboration with the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana. The latest lesson plan on SCOPES-DF complements programming for UNESCO's International Year of Indigenous Languages.

5th Annual Maker ED Convening
PRESENT YOUR WORK
 
Are you an expert in crafting design thinking experiences? Want to share your tips for engaging elementary-age makers with an audience of fellow educators? Do you have students who can talk about their experience with maker education? Consider sharing your skills, ideas, and expertise by leading a session at the Convening.

Accepting submissions until May 15th. 

Proposals that center and elevate the lived experience and stories of women, youth, and people of color will be prioritized during the review process.

Postdoc Opening @ Cornell University
Cornell University - Hybrid Body Lab - Postdoctoral Associate

The Hybrid Body Lab at Cornell University is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Associate to conduct cutting-edge research in the area of on-body user interfaces or digital fabrication. The Postdoc will work closely with Prof. Dr. Cindy-Hsin-Liu Kao, director of the Hybrid Body Lab. In addition, the Postdoc will frequently interact with faculty & researchers in the College of Human Ecology, Computing and Information Science, and the College of Engineering, all based on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, NY.  We offer a fully funded Postdoc position for one year with potential for renewal upon satisfactory performance. Although the start date is flexible, we prefer the candidate starts as soon as possible.

Discover Textile Academy Bootcamp 2019 Iceland and be a part of our Icelandic journey through traditional crafts and digital fabrication.

Throughout the week, we will visit traditional factories across the country and experiment with new materials, tools, and technologies. We will work together with #Fabricademy, local instructors and invited designers for a sustainable and inspired future.

An immersive summer school in the heart of China’s dynamic manufacturing ecosystem

International designers, makers, architects, urbanists, entrepreneurs, and innovators, are invited to participate in this Shaji Studio summer program.

The program will take place in the first Taobao village, an urban manufacturing phenomenon that is transforming industry, innovation and consumption in China.

#GlobalKids is a collaboration between Fab Japan and #FabLatKids. It is an annual event for spreading and exchanging knowledge of different traditions and cultures of the world through digital fabrication. This year, we are going to celebrate all kids with ancient Japanese Culture through an educational program that merges tradition and digital production!
