Ash Wednesday Service and Fellowship Meal

This Wednesday at 6 PM, we will gather in the Sanctuary for a special service to mark the beginning of Lent. Lent is a season of anticipation and preparation heading into the celebration of Easter. Ash Wednesday is marked by the imposition of ashes on our foreheads, reminding us of the need to repent and return to Christ. The ashes are made from the palm leaves that our children waved as they came in on Palm Sunday last year. It is a special service and I hope you all will join us.
There are some special parts to this service. First, we enter the Sanctuary in silence. No talking, no hello-how-are-ya's. We come into the Sanctuary in respect, focused, and solemn. It's a way we begin to offer ourselves in repentance to Christ. It's not about us-it's about him.  So please enter the Sanctuary in silence. Secondly, we will leave the same way, ready to enter our journey to the cross.
But, Jesus didn't die for us so that we would walk around distraught all the time. He is our Good News, our sufficient hope, our Lord and Redeemer! So, when the service concludes, you are invited to join together in holy fellowship as we enjoy supper together. Please bring a side dish to share if you can. And let's enjoy connecting with one another, being present with one another, and loving one another-all as an offering to honor Christ. I hope to see you all there!
