The City Lives!
Beloved in the Lord,
Χριστός Ἀνέστη! Christ is Risen!
Please join us on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 8PM EST as the Saint Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine will livestream its second annual Commemoration of the Fall of Constantinople, “The City Lives,” which will stream online.
The event will feature musical performances by the globally-renown Greek singer Glykeria.
The online version of this event is presented for all the faithful in place of an event at the Saint Photios Shrine in light of the current pandemic. The event will stream on the Facebook channels of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, The Pappas Post and The Orthodox Christian Network. You can also watch the event from any browser via YouTube.
Once again, as the Hierarchal Proistamenos of the Shrine, I have the distinct honor of hosting this year’s annual commemoration. In addition to the musical performance of folk and contemporary songs about Constantinople, the submissions and award of the first drawing contest for children of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America will be featured, focusing on the historic Church of the Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia).
The live event and segments were produced in conjunction with Archon Nicholas Furris of Spectrum Films, The Pappas Post, and the generosity of Archon Carl Hollister and his wife Cynthia.
I pray that you will be able to join us for this exciting event.
