Services This Week at Annunciation
|
|
Dear Faithful of Annunciation,
As we continue to worship while still adhering to COVID-19 precautions and safety measures, please remember that regular social distancing and wearing of masks will be closely followed on our parish grounds.
It has been wonderful to see you back in church, and to hear your voices as we prayed to Christ, our Immortal King and God!
As we prepare for our journey to Pascha, please join us to pray the Divine Services for the Saturday of the Souls on March 20th. You may bring the names of your loved ones who have fallen asleep in the Lord to be prayed at the Saturday of the Souls on Saturday, OR click HERE to submit them online (please do not do both).
We are called to increase our prayer life and fasting during the season of Great Lent, so that we are prepared to die and be resurrected with our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Beginning today, March 15th, on Kathara Deftera/Clean Monday, please join us to pray the prescribed Lenten services throughout the season of Great Lent:
- Great Compline | Every Monday at 6:00 pm
- Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts | Every Wednesday at 6:00 pm
- Salutations to the Theotokos (Χαιρετισμοί) | Every Friday at 7:00 pm
If you are able, healthy, and comfortable, we invite you to pray and celebrate with us, in person, in church. Masks, contact tracing, and social distancing protocols will, of course, be in place. Thank you again for being flexible and cooperative as we carefully navigate this time together.
As always, our services will continue to be broadcast via our live-stream.
Following the Great Compline, join us in our church building or via our live-stream for a Lenten Reflection from our clergy.
A blessed Great and Holy Lent! Καλή Σαρακοστή!
With love in Christ,
Fr. James Retelas
Presiding Priest

The Homily offered by Fr. Efstratios “Yianni” Magoulias on March 14, 2021
|
|
Every week in our Sunday Bulletin, This Week at Annunciation e-mails, and on our social media platforms, we will feature important events in the history of our Parish! Don't forget to check back weekly to learn more about Annunciation over the past 100 years!

Efstratios "Yianni" Magoulias'
Ordained to the Holy Diaconate
last Sunday, March 7, 2021
|
|
"The Divine Grace, ever healing the weak and fulfilling all that is lacking, ordains Efstratios, the devout Subdeacon to Deacon.
Let us, therefore, pray for him that the Grace of the All-Holy Spirit may come upon him."
-Prayer of Ordination
|
|
With thanksgiving and joyful hearts, the faithful of Annunciation in Sacramento offer our fervent prayers for the most worthy candidate Efstratios as he is ordained to rank of Deacon by the Grace of the All-Holy Spirit.
ΑΞΙΟΣ! WORTHY!
|
|
Yesterday, March 14th, the Reverend Deacon Efstratios "Yianni" served for the first time in our parish as a deacon. The Divine Liturgy with a deacon is a very special, beautiful dialog and expression of prayer, that unfortunately is not seen often in our churches in America. We also said "goodbye" to Deacon Efstratios and his wife, Diakonissa Danae. They are moving to the Metropolis of Denver. Please keep them in your prayers.
ΑΞΙΟΣ! WORTHY!

|
To celebrate Annunciation’s 100th Anniversary, we are preparing a celebration album to convey the history of our Church, its organizations and wonderful families. Instead of advertisements or “best wishes” pages, we’d like our parishioners to submit their family history and treasured photos to help us tell Annunciation’s story for generations to come. We also encourage our church organizations to submit their history and contributions to Annunciation over the decades. Please submit your story and photos from March 15 through June 15, 2021.
