Dear Cokesbury Family,
As you know, our dear Pastor Sheila Bates will be leaving as Lead Pastor on June 30th to go to the North Georgia Conference. We will all share grief and sorrow as she leaves us to begin a new adventure and ministry in East Point, GA, at Impact Church, a UMC in College Park.

Pastor Sheila has accumulated quite a bit of vacation time since she came to Cokesbury, and along with our District Superintendent Rev. Jean Tippet and the SPR at Cokesbury, we are able to let her begin that vacation time on May 2, 2022. She will still be our Lead Pastor and will be available to us throughout this vacation time. In her stead, Rev. Neal McDavid will serve as the interim pastor, who will work along the side of our staff and Pastor Josh to deliver the Sunday message and work in the office several days a week.

I know this is a surprise to many of you, but we want to announce a grand send-off reception for Pastor Sheila after church services on May 1 by having a picnic at Asbury Place. It will be a potluck affair with the church providing meat for the event. Please mark your calendars to be at Asbury Place at 12:00 pm on May 1, 2022, for the grand affair. More information will be shared very soon. I know you want to share your love for Pastor Sheila as she leaves Cokesbury. We will be collecting your monetary gifts to give her a lasting legacy of our love and appreciation for all she has done for Cokesbury.

All of the SPR Committee join with me as we pray for blessings on Pastor Sheila as she leaves us, and SPR will be announcing our incoming pastor on Sunday, April 10.

Blessings,

Jane Nelson, Chair SPR Committee
