The Children’s Center has a heart for children in our community. Cokesbury Children’s Center hosts a ‘Bike-a-Thon’ fundraiser to raise awareness for childhood cancer every year. One of our teachers, Mrs. Lou Anne Sapp, has a grandchild who survived childhood cancer and has been in charge of this event for twelve years.

This year we support The Rally Foundation of Pensacola, a non-profit organization that empowers volunteers to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. The children bring their bikes from home and get to ride them as their families make donations and come to cheer them on. The money we raise will provide financial support to local families whose children are affected by cancer. Every penny goes directly to the Rally Pensacola Family Emergency Fund.

A student once asked Mrs. Lou Anne, “Why do we ride our bikes at school?” She replied, “We ride our bikes to raise money for all the sick kids in the hospital who cannot ride their bikes!” The little boy smiled and said, “Then I better start riding!” Mrs. Lou Anne retires this year after 16 years of service to the Children’s Center. We will be proud to continue our support for Children’s Cancer Research by honoring Mrs. Lou Anne’s dedication to Cokesbury and the Community as we “KEEP ON RIDING!”
