Engage & Exchange: Your October PD Bulletin

Thanks to those of you who attended our AGM yesterday. We had a great line up with the keynote Ian Chambers (Plan for the Planet) and panelists Adrienne Picone (Volunteering Australia), Paul Bird (AVI) and Brandon Ah Tong (Fred Hollows Foundation) focused on the topic of SDGs and Me. Its always to wonderful to catch up members and see so many of you invested in the future of Volunteering Victoria and think about how what we do professional leaders of volunteers contributes to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.

We are also coming up to International Volunteer Managers Day (5 November 2019) where we celebrate the profession of volunteer leadership. The theme this year is Change the Tune reflecting the frustration experienced in many volunteer management circles, where we continue to have the same struggles and discussions year after year. This year’s theme is a chance for us to think differently about how volunteer leadership is positioned – in the hope that we can change the dialogue. So in the lead up to this day I ask you to think about what you are going to do differently this year. We feel lucky at Volunteering Victoria to be working towards this goal and giving you a range of tools to change the tune through our sector development activities and events. Let us know how you will be celebrating!

In this edition of Engage and Exchange, there is lots information about training and engagement opportunities for 2020 and how to start planning your involvement with Volunteering Victoria into the new year.

Happy reading!
